Quick Strawberry Syrup with Honey Recipe
Prep time 5 minutes | Cook time 5-10 minutes | Makes 1–1.5 cups
Ingredients
Directions
- Remove green leafy areas of strawberries and loosely chop. Place strawberries in small pot.
- Pour honey over strawberries and cook on low until honey is melted, stirring frequently.
- Turn heat up to medium until bubbly and stir well until strawberries have cooked well and are soft. (5-10 minutes)
- Mash strawberries up with fork. You can use this strawberry fruit syrup as is, or blend in a blender for a very smooth syrup or strain strawberries if desired.
- When jarring or bottling for friends, we loosely strain and package as shown in cute glass jars. We also recycle every every glass jar that comes into this house and reuse it in the future. I always sanitize and reuse the jars for gifts of jams, jellies, sauces, etc.
This quick strawberry syrup recipe is sweet but very tasty. Although we used fresh strawberries you can absolutely use frozen strawberries. Remember to thaw completely and drain. You'll have to account for that extra water in frozen berries. Our all natural strawberry syrup is perfect for morning pancakes. I prefer to use raw, unfiltered honey because I love the taste and appreciate the health benefits. This honey has a milder honey flavor so that the syrup doesn’t taste like “honey” and instead really takes on the flavor of the berries. We love this homemade strawberry syrup on pancakes, waffles and so much more.
