How to Keep Your Skin Glowing in the Winter
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
When the air is so cold and dry, that is what is going to happen to your skin as well which means you will really want to moisturize your skin as often as you can. I recommend moisturizing in the morning, at night, as well as directly after you cleanse your face or shower because the water is also very drying on the skin. My favorite face moisturizer is Olay Total Effects Face Moisturizer which has an SPF that I love. It makes my skin look amazing. For body moisturizing, I use NIVEA Crème, Dove Cream Oil Intensive Body Lotion and Hempz Natural Herbal Body Moisturizer: Sweet Pineapple & Honey Melon Skin Lotion (the smell is AMAZING!)
Protect Your Skin
When going out into the cold air the cold winds can be very harsh to your skin. You want to keep yourself covered up as much as you possibly can. Use hats, gloves, and scarves in order to keep your skin protected and you will notice a huge difference in how your skin takes on the winter weather.
During the Winter months we tend to drink less water and drink more hot drinks such as coffees, teas, and hot chocolate. Well we need to stay hydrated as much as you possibly can, especially during the winter. Try to drink as much water as you possibly can and keep your body hydrated. This will help your skin to stay hydrated and glowing. If you are a VSCO girl or the parent of a teen, then get yourself a Hydro Flask Water Bottle. If not, check out some of our favorite water bottles like the Contigo AUTOSEAL Chill Vacuum-Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle. This has been my go to water bottle for almost 7 years.
Your skin can build up a ton of dead skin cells and dry skin patches which will make your skin look very dull and lifeless. I really recommend exfoliating your skin about once a week and your skin will look so much fresher and moisturized. Use one of our favorite sugar scrubs listed below or grab a great sponge. Make certain to change out your exfoliating sponge regularly.
During the Winter months the air tends to get very dry as well, which can also dry out your skin dramatically. I would really recommend getting a humidifier to keep in your home to keep the air moisturized and this will really help to keep your skin moisturized.
