Disney truly is one of the most magical places on Earth. And being Disney lovers, we love sharing all of these hotels with you. Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a themed Disney-owned property, located within the Magic Kingdom Resort Area in Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The Fort Wilderness Resort Disney World Florida Resort officially opened on November 19, 1971, and is adjacent to Bay Lake and Disney's River Country, a now-defunct water park. We hope that you love this Disney World Fort Wilderness post.

Fort Wilderness combines a frontier theme with a rustic natural setting, complete with 750 acres of pine-and-cypress woodland. Several hiking trails can be found crisscrossing the property, which is located in the vicinity of Disney's Magic Kingdom. As the resort offers ample Disney RV parking, it tends to attract several travelers in these large vehicles, as well as couples and families who prefer traditional camping.
Standard rooms at the Fort Wilderness Resort can sleep up to four adults and are furnished with either a queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds, or two queen beds. For those requiring a bit more elbow room, there are cabin rentals available, equipped with full kitchens and private patios.
Cabins at Disney Fort Wilderness Resort
The cabins can comfortably sleep up to six adults. The majority of rooms and cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness offer views of the woodland landscape.
Fort Wilderness Resort Disney World Florida features four different types of campsites, ranging from simple tenting areas to sites large enough to accommodate a 45-foot recreational vehicle. This resort has the distinction of being one of the few places that's convenient for Disney RV parking. All campsites feature water, cable, and electric hookups, as well as a picnic table and a charcoal grill. Some are pet-friendly, and many have sewer hookups available as well. Comfort stations are positioned throughout the property for the convenience of the guests. Campsites can be used to accommodate up to 10 people, depending on the type of site.
Transportation
As the Disney campground is relatively large, there are golf cart rentals available to help cut down on walking time. Horseback riding is another way to get around the resort (also see Pools and Activities, below). For guests arriving by car, there is complimentary standard parking for one vehicle per campsite.
Dining
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground features a multitude of casual dining options. For a quick bite on the go, there are counter-service eateries and food trucks such as P&J's Southern Takeout and the Chuck Wagon. Crockett's Tavern, the only lounge on the property, offers relaxed dining in a pub-style atmosphere. There's also a family-style buffet restaurant, Trail's End, for larger and/or more finicky groups.
The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, hosted at Pioneer Hall, treats visitors to a festive comedy/musical dinner routine in the vein of Hee Haw. The menu features an all-you-care-to-eat array of Southern comfort food. Also on-site is Mickey's Backyard BBQ, an opportunity for the little ones to get up close and personal with their favorite characters.
Pools and Activities
This Disney campground also has a swimming pool, for respite from the hot Florida sun. The Meadow Swimming Pool features a corkscrew slide and a separate whirlpool area. All guests staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground may take advantage of the pool offerings. Horseback riding, canoeing, and archery are also available at this resort, and the 750 acres of forested ground offer plenty of opportunities to connect with nature. Visitors can expect to see deer, plenty of birds, and perhaps even the odd armadillo or two.
Local Area
The Orlando resort is located within driving distance of all four major Disney theme parks, closest to the Magic Kingdom. This central Florida region is something of a tourist mecca, with no shortage of exciting recreational options.

I would love to take my family for a visit to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground as it looks amazing! You really can’t go wrong with the Disney brand.
This is more of a glamping experience at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Disney isn’t for kids alone, really, Lydia! I’m inspired to visit. Going to put it on my bucket list.
This sounds like a great place to visit. We have done a lot of camping and it’s nice to have a variety of different options. Those cabins look so comfortable, and it’s nice to do something other than tent camping.
We live in the area, so we’re fortunate to be able to go to Disney all the time. I think the next time we go, we’ll definitely make it a weekend at Fort Wilderness.
This area is little known and would be great for an RV family stopover. I will keep this inmind because I want to go exploring in the future in an RV.
Amy
Wow, this looks mega fun!! Places like these are why I want to get an RV!

Thank you for this! We are planning a trip to Orlando this year and I am trying to way out all of our options! We’ve talked about renting an RV and driving down so that we can sightsee along the way. Don’t get me wrong…I love flying, but driving lets you enjoy so much more!
I love her nature mystic this Disney lodging experience is. It reminds me of when my parents and I would go to the timeshare in Tyler Texas. I would love to visit here
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground looks so magnificent and thanks for all those informative trivia about the place. What a fun place to visit.
I heard Disney had a camp ground a few years ago but i never really looked into it. I love how it has different housing options. I would probably prefer glamping more than camping. I hear it’s better priced than their hotels.

This looks like such a wonderful and fun place. Would definitely want to visit it.
This looks like a great camping ground to take the kids too! Heck, I’d enjoy it all by myself! LOL xo

I prefer glamping rather than the rugged camping. And your post on this Disney type of vacation is definitely my ideal glamping! Love it!
Disney is always innovating themselves. I had no idea there was a campground out there like this!
