Recently Best Buy sent me the Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker to review, and for the past week I have been wearing and using the product. So let's dive right in, and take a closer look at the speaker. We hope that you enjoy this Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker Review.
What is it?
The Bose SoundWear Companion is a personal speaker that rests around the neck and on the shoulders. It is horseshoe shaped in design, and coated in a soft silicone, making it comfortable to wear. Bose also includes a fabric cover for the device. It connects to your phone, tablet, or computer via Bluetooth. Once connected, you can stream music, take calls, and even query Siri or Google Assistant.
The sound produced is clear and loud to the wearer. This allows the wearer to keep there ears free, allowing for increased awareness of surroundings. In practice, I found that it was the perfect thing to wear while I did things like cook dinner, clean the house, and mow the grass. Given that the design is also sweat and weather resistant, I also found myself wearing it on my nightly walks.
The speaker utilizes Bose's waveguide technology to create a cone of sound around the wearers head. There are two 11 inch waveguides built into the flexible neckband that push air to opposite ports for deep lows—while proprietary digital signal processing cancels out bass for anyone nearby. The result is a sound quality that is crystal clear with deep bass.
Phone calls sound fantastic on the SoundWear Companion. Voices were quite clear and rich, and I was heard without issue on the other end of the call.
One thing to be aware of is that anyone standing near the wearer can hear the audio, but it is very quiet. I would not use the SoundWear Companion speaker somewhere quiet or while taking a confidential call.
Battery life is good. Bose claims that you should get about 12 hours of use off of a charge, and in practice that is what I found as well. The SoundWear Companion uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Just plug it in via the micro USB port to charge.

Oh that’s really neat. You can be the life of the party with that around your neck. But I like that its Bluetooth and some people just don’t like wearing earbuds or something on their head.

This is awesome! I have some wireless headphones, but honestly after awhile my ears start to hurt =/ Not to mention, this would be great when you need to ‘hear your surroundings’ like when you are mowing the grass, or even just working out at home and have kids in the house. I may have to look into some Bose Soundwear !

This looks pretty awesome. I will say that I don’t think outside of getting high quality headphone, that most likely cost a lot, I wouldn’t invest in this because I would never use it. I am a huge fan of Bose
