Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker Review
Recently Best Buy sent me the Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker to review, and for the past week I have been wearing and using the product. So let's dive right in, and take a closer look at the speaker. We hope that you enjoy this Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker Review.
What is it?
The Bose SoundWear Companion is a personal speaker that rests around the neck and on the shoulders. It is horseshoe shaped in design, and coated in a soft silicone, making it comfortable to wear. Bose also includes a fabric cover for the device. It connects to your phone, tablet, or computer via Bluetooth. Once connected, you can stream music, take calls, and even query Siri or Google Assistant.
The sound produced is clear and loud to the wearer. This allows the wearer to keep there ears free, allowing for increased awareness of surroundings. In practice, I found that it was the perfect thing to wear while I did things like cook dinner, clean the house, and mow the grass. Given that the design is also sweat and weather resistant, I also found myself wearing it on my nightly walks.
The speaker utilizes Bose's waveguide technology to create a cone of sound around the wearers head. There are two 11 inch waveguides built into the flexible neckband that push air to opposite ports for deep lows—while proprietary digital signal processing cancels out bass for anyone nearby. The result is a sound quality that is crystal clear with deep bass.
Phone calls sound fantastic on the SoundWear Companion. Voices were quite clear and rich, and I was heard without issue on the other end of the call.
One thing to be aware of is that anyone standing near the wearer can hear the audio, but it is very quiet. I would not use the SoundWear Companion speaker somewhere quiet or while taking a confidential call.
Battery life is good. Bose claims that you should get about 12 hours of use off of a charge, and in practice that is what I found as well. The SoundWear Companion uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Just plug it in via the micro USB port to charge.

Oh that’s really neat. You can be the life of the party with that around your neck. But I like that its Bluetooth and some people just don’t like wearing earbuds or something on their head.
I need to get this! I always like to listen to music. I’d have to get one for the kids too though. Otherwise they’d try to steal it from me!
This looks like an amazing speaker system!! I would love to try one of these for working around my house…LOL!!
Now this is a really unique looking speaker – I like the fact it rests around the neck and it is definitely something I could see myself buying and using.
This sounds like a cool gadget. I hate earbuds, so something like this would be great for me to try out!
My husband keeps complaining that I wear headphones all the time. Maybe this is the solution I have been looking for.
Oh! I think I have seen speakers like these and I think they are absolutely brilliant. Just the sheer fact that it rests on your shoulders is attractive to me.
This would certainly be a great gift for my dad. He loves tecnology and Bose is one of his favorites.
I would love to have a set of these headphones. Safety is my number 1 priority when wearing headphones while I walk outside or at the gym. Bose is known for their outstanding sound performance.
I am getting this for my husband for Father’s Day. He uses headphones all the time, but these will not hurt his ears!
This sounds like a great gadget. I totally need to get this. This would make listening to my favorite music so much more fun.
This is the best thing ever!! I KNOW my husband would love this for father’s day…he would put it to good use at his office
This looks like an awesome product. This sounds like exactly what I could use too. This would be great for listening to music.
WOW! This is something new for me! I would like to try this speaker! I am so curious!
I haven’t seen these before, they look so cool! I need this speaker, I’ll probably grab it for my hubby for Father’s day and then steal it back lol
The quality of these phones is bar none. Bose is the way to go.
I need a pair of these. The reviews are insane!
This looks like an awesome speaker! I love the Bose brand! I’ll have to check this out for a Father’s Day gift! Thanks for sharing.
That is so cool and such a perfect gift for Father’s Day indeed. My husband would want one, for sure.
These look super awesome. I know my husband and I would both utilize these on our runs. I look forward to getting one soon.
These look awesome! I’d love to have this for working out, running, or yard work.
This is awesome! I have some wireless headphones, but honestly after awhile my ears start to hurt =/ Not to mention, this would be great when you need to ‘hear your surroundings’ like when you are mowing the grass, or even just working out at home and have kids in the house. I may have to look into some Bose Soundwear !
What a great gift idea for Father’s Day! The hubs loves tech and sound gadgets. This will be perfect for him!
Nothing better than wireless speakers! Bose are a great brand when it comes to quality speakers.
Holy cow I could so use these in my life! Headphone wire always getting caught, falling out of my ears. I love these and father’s day is right around the corner.
I like that you wear it around the neck. My daughter hates having earphones in her ears, so this looks like a much better speaker option for her!
I’ve never seen any headphones like this before. I’m very picky about my sound quality and volume and am wondering what this would sound like.
This is awesome! I would love to have that Bose Soundwear companion. I have a compact Bluetooth speaker but it is the desktop kind. I love this one because you can wear it! So cool!
I need new headphones and this one fits the bill. Thanks for sharing your review!
I love this. No dangling wires, and no pressure on my ears and temples. I should go and get this for myself. Perfect companion for those nights when I have to stay up late working.
That is an awesome fathers day gift. My dad would love this and looks like a comfy smart device!
OMG I love the looks of this and never heard of it before. I will be putting this on my Christmas list. We have Bose products and always love them.
My hubby was just telling me how he sees these all over the place now, when he’s riding the train to work! I hadn’t seen them before so I’m glad I found this post!
That would be an awesome gift idea too! I think my husband would love it.
I really love the idea of this! My husband would really love it for work.
My husband would love something like this. I will have to pick it up as a late Father’s Day gift.
I would love one of these. Big fan of Bose here and have their noise cancelling v2 for over 15 years!
This looks pretty awesome. I will say that I don’t think outside of getting high quality headphone, that most likely cost a lot, I wouldn’t invest in this because I would never use it. I am a huge fan of Bose
