Did you know that Champions for Kids is helping communities across the country? Champions for Kids, Elmer’s and other sponsors are making it easy for communities to help local students and teachers go back to school with the confidence and tools they need for success through donation and volunteer opportunities.
Beginning July 7, customers at more than 2,300 participating Walmart stores can purchase pre-filled backpacks or select Unilever or Purell products and deposit donations in bins located in Walmart stores nationwide. All donations will stay in the local community and be distributed through school districts nearest to each store.
We were excited to head to our local Walmart to purchase and donate a backpack for a child in need. We also do this with school supplies every year by buying double what was requested in each classroom so that the teacher can share with a child who couldn't afford supplies.
Champions for Kids makes it simple to give kids in your community the resources they need to thrive. By working with retailers, schools and volunteers to host in-store donation campaigns, service projects and community events, CFK has served more than 2,020,000 children in 50 states since 2004. The goal is to help 20 million children by the year 2020 through programs like SIMPLE Service and SIMPLE Giving, as well as events like RazorFest and the organization’s Annual Conference. Champions for Kids has donated to 11,947 community organizations to support children’s’ needs and has leveraged 126,000 people for their cause. Additional information about Champions for Kids can be found by visiting www.championsforkids.org.
Did you know that in 2013 K-12 teachers spent $1.6 billion out of their own pockets to provide enough resources for all of their students?
Studies find that students who are well-equipped stay connected to school. They earn better grades, receive higher test scores, have better attendance records and have a higher graduation rate.
For every 5 backpack donations shared on social media with the hashtag #SimpleServeSave, Savings.com will donate a backpack!

This donation was important to me for several reasons. One I take every opportunity to show my children about giving back. We donate our time and give money whenever we can. My children understand that they are lucky and have more than many other kids. And now they gave back.
Visit your local Walmart, donate a backpack, and share it on social media so that we can tell others how you are giving back. Remember for every 5 backpack donations shared on social media with the hashtag #SimpleServeSave, Savings.com will donate a backpack! The more they give, the more we give, and the more children benefit!
