La Redoute Presents The Language of Love

LaRedoutePost sponsored by La Redoute

Most of us reserve our grand gestures of love for specific holidays throughout the year. Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.

Did you know that 22% of people in the UK haven’t said ‘I love you’ in over a year?

Or that only 30% of us say it daily?

However, 82% of us want to hear it and we want to be told ‘I love you.’ We send the cards, we buy the presents but how often are we saying the words?

La Redoute, the French fashion house who delivers to over 150 countries, created a campaign to show that there is much more to the French way of life besides an appreciation of beauty.

The French way of life is about jumping in to what you believe in, having that can do attitude and cherishing those in your life. The Language of Love campaign from La Redoute encourages us to say ‘I love you’ more or ‘je t’aime’ … ‘te amo’

In the campaign, La Redoute asked for heartfelt messages from shy partners, significant others. They asked sons, daughters, mothers and father to share these messages on film and then they filmed their partners reactions as well.

Declaring your love is not an easy thing to do but declaring it on camera sounds a little scary to me. Making this video so much more beautiful is Mr La Redoute (Florent Thevenot) is saying the words in French and then translating them back to English.

The Language of Love is a wonderful chance to real interactions between people who really care for each other. Nothing has been scripted or rehearsed. Watch this beautiful video and let me know what you think!

Beautiful and just what I needed to see this morning. I make sure to tell everyone in my home I love them everyday. I learned the hard way how precious time is!

  13. We actually say I love you in my house several times a day. This was such a lovely video and it just made my day.

  14. Very beautiful. We try to always say I love you in our home. It is important to keep saying it.

  15. Hearing I love you is one of the most beautiful things. I actually do try to say it daily, especially when I am dropping my kids off at school in the morning.

  16. Those are some surprising statistics, wow! The video made me smile from ear to ear – how touching!

  17. So sweet. I can honestly say I tell my husband I love him every day – and my son at least several times a day. 🙂

  18. it’s funny how we all want to hear it (or most of us admitting to wanting to hear it) but not all of us say it. i’m an oversayer, i think.

  19. My boyfriend and I make it a point to tell each other I love you before we go to sleep and in the morning before we’re starting our respective days. I also tell my kids repeatedly. I think it’s so very important to say I love you and tell people how much they mean to you.

  20. This is such a touching video. I actually admire my hubby for never hanging up the phone without saying “I love you”… even when it’s a 2 second conversation- we make it a point to remind each other that we love each other.

  21. Wow, crazy stats! My hubby is really great about saying I Love You. I’m more of a repeater, I love you to, because he always beats me to it.

  22. Marika

We say I love you with hubby to each other at least 10 times a day 🙂

  23. Jenna Wood

This reminds me of a similar video involving a mirror, its a very nice concept. Just goes to show you that you don’t need the right words to show you love someone.

  24. Being that my Grandma was born and raised in England; I can believe the statics of how rare “i love you” is said in the culture. She tells stories.

but everyone needs to hear it. That video made me tear up a bit.

  25. This is so touching! And a reminder to be grateful – those stats wee truly shocking to me because “I love you” is said about 50 times a day in our house between all of us.

  26. What a beautiful message shared by LaRedoute and a touching video. 30% of us say it daily? eek I guess I am part of those 70%.

  27. What a great thing LaRedoute is doing. We get so caught up in our lives that we forget to let the people around us know how much they mean to us.

  28. I love this. I’ve lost loved one whom I felt like may not have known exactly how much I loved them. That’s why I try to make sure my family knows how much they mean to me each and every day.

  29. bri

I need to say “I love you” more often to the people that I love. This is a great post.

  30. Daisy

That is shocking that so many people go so long without saying I Love You. I say it a hundred times a day to my family members and would be lost without them.

  31. Marya

Beautiful video! I tell my kids several times a day that I love them We never know what tomorrow will bring, so don’t want to waste an opportunity to say it!

  32. Ann BAcciaglia

Saying I love you is so important. My husband died suddenly. I am so happy that I always told him I loved him before we went to sleep. It was the last thing he ever heard me say to him.

  33. We say I love you multiple times in this house daily!

  34. I tell my kids I love them daily. I don’t say it as much to others though. I need to think about that more because I know how much it means to me.

  35. I was trying to hold it together when watching that video. Gosh darn it, a tear fell anyhow.

  36. What an amazing video!! And so true how little we say it as well!

  37. Aww, that is a sweet video. I like when people express themselves in a wonderfully nice way. 🙂

  38. I absolutely love this. The video is sweet but it’s the sentiment behind it all that is so important. It’s important to hear and say I love you!

  39. kendall

My husband and I are “I love you” over-users, lol. We say it all the time – especially to our kids. It makes me so sad that some people don’t hear it 🙁

  40. Eliz Frank

This is so sweet and a great way to start the day. I think it’s important to learn the habit of saying I love you to those we love.

  41. Yona Williams

Oh yeah…I teared up when I saw the video…I think the girl with the short dark hairdo speaking to her mother really got to me for some reason.

  42. Eliz Frank

I’m leaving another comment because I don’t see my last one. It’s a great concept and way to get people to declare their love. The more we practice saying “I love you” to loved ones, the easier it becomes.
