A Dog’s Purpose Movie

A Dog's Purpose Movie

For as long as I can remember, we have had dogs in our home. Growing up I can remember several dogs but no dog more than my beloved Golden Retriever, Buppa. As a child, I couldn't say the word puppy so I called dogs Buppa instead. Fast forward years later when my mother bred our Golden Retriever and we ended up keeping three of the puppies making us a four-dog family for the rest of my formative years. Buppa was an amazing dog and he loved me more than anyone else. I felt the same way about him. I don't remember much about my childhood that didn't involve him. He was always there. Through every boyfriend, every heartbreak, every sports game, friendship, and more; he was always there. We hope that this A Dog's Purpose Movie post inspires you.

He died when he was 16 years old and I was a mess. After losing him, I decided that I could never have a dog again because I just could love one like I had loved Buppa. He gave me 16 of the most amazing years and because I lost my best friend, I simply couldn't have a replacement. I felt lost and I just knew that I would never love another dog again. Three years later, I found Buckley on the Brittany Spaniel rescue website after watching the American Kennel Club show. He was sick, malnourished, had Parvo, and wasn't expected to make it. I took one look at his face on the website and knew instantly that he would be our dog. I loved the movie A Dog's Purpose for some of these very same reasons.A Dog's Purpose Movie

It took two, long months of visiting Buckley weekly, making certain that our home was ready for him (we installed a fence) and for him to recover. However, upon meeting him I realized that I could love another dog and let him into my home. The day Buckley came home, we (my husband and I plus Buckley) became a family and we loved Buckley for the next 10 years. Buckley was the dog that protected each child by laying next to their crib. He comforted me when my best friend died at age 32. He snuggled with and kept everyone in this family warm for so many years plus gave us his unconditional. Buckley taught us that we will always have room in our hearts to love another dog.

About A Dog's Purpose Movie

Based on the beloved bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, A Dog’s Purpose, by director Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules, Dear John, The 100-Foot Journey), shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad) who finds the meaning of his existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.  In theaters on January 27th, this family film is told from the dog’s perspective and also stars Dennis Quaid, Peggy Lipton, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juliet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz, and Pooch Hall.

A Dog's Purpose tells the heartwarming story of a dog named Bailey who discovers his life's purpose through multiple reincarnations. Beginning as a stray puppy, Bailey experiences joy and heartbreak across his lives, living as different breeds for various owners. Through his journeys, Bailey develops a special bond with a boy named Ethan. As Ethan grows up, facing challenges and setbacks, Bailey reincarnates each time, appearing in different forms but always connected by unwavering loyalty and love. He protects Ethan from danger, brings him joy in tough times, and reminds him of who he truly is.

The film explores themes of love, loyalty, friendship, and the enduring connection between dogs and humans. We see Bailey bring happiness to diverse families, offering companionship and support throughout their lives. Ultimately, the story reveals that a dog's purpose transcends any single life, as they leave paw prints on our hearts and enrich our lives in ways we never imagined.
