The moment that I found out I was pregnant, I began planning. My husband and I both decided that we did not want to find out what we were having. That's right. We did not want to know whether we were having a boy or a girl.
This drove people nuts.
“How could you not want to know?” they said.
“How will you plan?” they demanded.
“How will you decorate the nursery?” they inquired.
There were lots of questions over our decision. But we stuck to it and even did it with the next two babies after that. We had a lot of fun waiting and talking about what we would have. Would it be a boy? Would it be a girl?
As much fun as we had, when it came to shopping for gender neutral items, we definitely had some decisions to make. How would we decorate? What colors do you pick?
Then came the issue of crib bedding. This was tough because we were having a surprise gender baby. We went with a yellow comforter and everything else in matching pastel colors. I was very careful to keep everything neutral.
There are some great options out there when it comes to gender neutral things.
The best part about bringing all of our purchases to the cash register was knowing that all of these items could easily be used with any subsequent child. This made spending so much money a little easier.
