Strong women seem to run in my family. My late grandmother was a concentration camp survivor who went on to marry, raise five children and countless grandchildren. She was the strongest woman that I had ever known and I have always been proud that she was in my life. I still miss her. These days I tend to look towards the media for examples of strong women to show my daughters because I feel that all us can use more strong women in our lives as role models, couldn't we? This includes people in the news, celebrities and just about anyone else that my girls could possibly come in contact with.
One of my favorite examples of a strong woman is Oprah Winfrey. This is a woman who overcame a great of adversity and just about any stumbling block that she could possibly come across. She beat all the odds and became the top in her field. Her strength helped her keep going after each failure or every time that someone told her no. I use as an example of a strong woman when I encourage my girls to find their own role models and to find others in the world who they think are strong.
