Vrbo, pronounced “VER-boh” (now you see how the blog post title rhymes?) is the place to go for families and friends to plan their dream vacations by booking vacation homes, condos, resorts, cabins and more.  VER-boh is the new way to say the Vrbo name. Fans have pronounced the brand name like that for years and now the company is officially embracing it.

Vrbo’s Bang for Your Buck Index is such a helpful way to find destinations offering the most value for the money and that you might not have otherwise considered. This is important to me since we plan so many trips, I love being able to know how I can save money with my next destination.

”We already know families and groups of friends appreciate the value of renting a vacation home, but travelers want to know exactly where they can get the most for their money. So we dug into the Vrbo data to find out where homeowners are renting places out to others for the lowest average cost per night,” said Vrbo travel expert Melanie Fish. ”Our Bang for Your Buck Index takes care of the price comparisons so you can spend less time planning and more time making memories.”

Vrbo’s Trip Boards make it easy to plan vacations with friends and family by allowing travelers to create custom Trip Boards with their favorite properties. Trip Boards can then be easily shared with family and friends. Everyone can then vote and comment which allows us to choose the perfect place for our vacation.

I just rented our Thanksgiving cabin on Vrbo. For the past years, my family and I have rented a place for Thanksgiving in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Georgia. My sister & her three kids, my father & stepmother plus my family (husband and three kids) have made this our yearly tradition. We cook a huge dinner and invite people from all over. As a family, we spend the entire week together and end it with the lighting of the tree in downtown Blue Ridge. Vrbo makes this trip so much easier because of the Trip Board. In fact, if you look at all of my boards, you will see the past five years of cabin rentals on our Trip Boards. We love Vrbo that much. Go Vrbo to the Outer Banks in North Carolina - Check out our Trip Board! #Vrbo

Vrbo sounds like a great way to keep trip planning on track. It is very easy to get out of sync and confused when trying to coordinate with other travel partners.

  2. I’ve never used VRBO but after reading your post it’s something I would consider next time 🙂

  3. I love the idea of vrbo but I just don’t trust them. The last time we stayed at a vrbo we brought home bed bugs! I’m sure they all aren’t bad though. You just have to be careful!

    • That really seems like an issue that was very specific to a home rather than the entire company of Vrbo. They have over 2 million homes worldwide. It seems a little over the top to not trust a company because of one home. I stayed in over 80 Vrbo homes and never had a bedbug once.

  4. Interesting topic to think about to think about how it is better to act in front of this choice.

  5. Glad to learn about Vrbo and even how to pronounce it correctly. We love road trips and have done several around in the world including US but only the west coast with booking with airbnb. Thanks for your honest review on Vrbo will certainly look into in for my next trip.
