Don’t Forget These 6 Things While Packing for Vacation
Don’t Forget These 6 Things While Packing for Vacation
With summer in full swing, many of us are packing our bags and getting ready to head out of dodge for a much-needed break. Whether you're taking the whole family or headed to a yoga retreat solo, there are some must-haves that we all need in our luggage. On top of making sure you've got snacks for the road, a perfectly curated playlist, and your ID cards, make sure you include the following on the packing list for your upcoming getaway.
A Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are one of the fashion gods' greatest gifts ever bestowed on us. Maxis are a must-pack for your summer vacation because of their extreme versatility. They look cute during the daytime with a pair of flip flops and a messy bun and can be dressed up with the right jewelry and a pair of wedges. If your maxi dress is stretch cotton, it looks stylish when knotted to make it shorter for dipping your toes in the ocean without getting your clothes wet. Make sure you've got a maxi in your vacation bag for all those reasons!
A Sun Hat
While taking care of your skin can never be overstated, protecting your eyes from the sun is something that needs to be taken a step further when you're on vacation. Make sure you protect your delicate facial skin with an oversized sun hat; throw on some sunglasses too. Sure, you may already be getting Botox or filler, but save your skin from more fine lines, wrinkles, and other sun damage by protecting it with a hat.
The Right Products
Protecting your skin on vacation from harsh UV rays is a must. Bring the products you use daily and others to deal with issues that may arise from the intense sun. Of course, SPF and aloe vera are a given but don't forget key skincare pieces like exfoliators to help get sunscreen off, natural skincare for oily skin (most skin gets oily from sweating), and masks to indulge in while you're relaxing at your resort. Even if going to a spa is part of your vacation plan, don't neglect your skincare routine during traveling, and never fall asleep with your makeup on – no matter how much fun you're having!
Reusable Water Bottle
Nothing's worse than enjoying a stroll along the beach, exploring a new city somewhere, or going on a quick hike and not having something to quench your thirst. Plan by making sure you've got your trusty reusable water bottle on vacation. While they're made in various materials, stainless steel is the way to go. If you're traveling with your kids, make sure they've got theirs too!
Sensible Shoes
Sure, we all want to look selfie-ready while on vacation, but how often will your shoes be in the photograph? While doing the same activities mentioned above, you'll want to make sure you can enjoy the experience without your feet ailing you. You don't want to have to cut excursions short because your dogs are barking! By packing hiking boots and tennis shoes, you'll be up for anything too. Save the heels and wedges for your nice dinners out.
In The Bag
While some people love bringing several of their favorite handbags on their trips to complement different outfits, keep things smart and bring your favorite carry-all that can fit anything you may want or need. Whether that looks like a leather tote bag or a fanny pack to you, it doesn't matter, but making sure you can shop, eat, and explore easily is key. Your handbag can make all the difference in this department. Not to mention, if your designer bag gets lost or stolen during travel, that's a major bummer.
Necessities to pack will vary because of age, family size, and many other reasons, but making sure you include the above-mentioned items will make a difference in virtually anyone's vacation. Don't forget to pack along with your daily medications, extras (luck favors the prepared), and emergency contact information for folks back home. Vacations are a great way to boost your mental health, create memories with loved ones, and not create stress. Stress about less by bringing these essentials. Happy Trails!
