I will never forget the day I began my “adult” life. At the ripe age of 18, I packed all of my worldly belongings into my car and headed off to college. I was ready to take on the world….or so I thought. I was in for a rude awakening. Less than two weeks after leaving home, I found myself lying in bed, sick and alone. It was my fault; I had taken on too large of a class load and I had partied a bit too much. I had managed to wear myself down to the point of sickness. And the worst part of it all? I had no idea what to do. My medicine cabinet contained some toothpaste and a razor…not exactly what one needs when feeling ill. It was with this type of scenario in mind that the College Student First Aid Kit was created.

The College Student First Aid Kit was created by a Nurse practitioner named Beth Palmer Stewart. After over 25 years of working with children, adolescents, and young adults, Beth realized that college students tended to have similar illnesses and injuries. Additionally, most of the college students that she encountered were woefully unprepared to deal with personal injury and illness. They didn't know what to do, and they never had needed medication and supplies stocked and ready.
With this in mind, Beth began shopping for a first aid kit. Beth's oldest was getting ready to leave for college, and she wanted to make sure her daughter was prepared. It was as Beth shopped for a first aid kit that she had an “AHA!” moment. She realized that there were no first aid kits designed for the specific and unique needs of a college student. Making matters worse, most of the first aid kits that she found were stocked with low-quality medicines and were missing critical items. It was at this moment that Beth decided to create a first-aid kit specifically designed for college students.
Beth spent the next few months researching and sourcing the medications and tools that would end up in this first aid kit. The goal was to put together a mom-approved, dorm-sized, portable medicine cabinet that contained affordable, quality medications and tools. The result was a first aid kit that contained over 50 different medications, ointments, creams, drops, tools, and wound care items.

This is really a nice idea, though admittedly, when I was a nursing student, I had my first aid kit too, but not for myself but for emergency and for our practicum. 🙂 Though sometimes, I used some stuff for myself like medicines 🙂

It’s so important to have a first aid kit, It’s especially important for kids who are out on their own for the first time.
Nnniiiccceeeee….Nurse Beth sure did save lives with this pack. I don’t know if she knows it but she’s quite the genius! I love it. It can surely be utilised even in far-off corners of the world that have all kinds of stuff roaming around.

I find this college first-aid kit a must-have for college students. When college starts close to Fall, we moms know that’s when cold and flu season is right around the corner, and it’s a good idea for college students to have an upper hand.
