If you want to make lasagna from scratch, this traditional lasagna recipe is truly the most simple lasagna I have ever made. We make a double batch of meat sauce and freeze half of it. Lasagne is such an amazing comfort food. It's hearty, filling and the lasagna layers can be done however you desire although we usually end up with 4 to 5 layers depending on the pan. Easy lasagna recipes are my favorite because I don't have hours to spend making food which means more time for my family and the things that I love to do. This meat lasagna recipe definitely fits the bill because it is easy to make and tastes amazing. We hope that you love this Classic Lasagna Recipe.

Classic Lasagna Recipe

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 50 minutes
Servings: 12

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of red tomato meat sauce
  • 8 lasagna noodles
  • 15 oz. ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

Slow Cooker Tomato Meat Sauce Recipe

Directions

  1. Make the crockpot meat sauce early in the day or the day before.
  2. Preheat oven 350°F. Cook pasta al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, eggs and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and set aside.
  4. Spread 1 cup of red sauce evenly over the bottom of a baking dish. Layer with 1/2 of cooked lasagna noodles, 1/2 of ricotta cheese mixture, 1/2 of meat sauce,  and 1/2 of remaining mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
  6. Allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

    easy to spruce up the sauces with ground up carrots and frying some hamburger with onion and garlic. Make for some veggies and protein in the sauce for the kids

    I like to make an eggplant sauce when we have an over supply of eggplant, peppers and tomaotes from the garden. I make a huge pot and freeze 3/4 of that for use during the winter. I like the Classico Alfredo sauce to use for making ‘White Pizza’. Haven’t tried the pizza sauces yet, but I will since that is a always keeped stocked pantry item in our house.

    In the summer we just put in some ground hamburger in the sauce for spaghetti- winter time though when there isnt a concern about heating the kitchen up I love making lasagna. Usually I will put in some tomatoes that have been preserved from the garden and any other garden vegetable handy. We also experiment with meats by subbing venison mixed with sausage.
