These are great tips. It’s not easy talking to our daughters at such a young age about this.
Thankfully I have boys so I get to avoid this awkward topic of conversation, but it is something I have had to address with students sometimes. So many great tips!
my 9 year old niece is reaching the puberty stage, so these are pretty helpful tips. I’ll be sure to share this with my sister!
This is great advice! I have always been very open with my kids. Having a back ground in biology, I find it is the easiest approach. It is a process the body goes through so there should be no shame. My DD is only 4 but I hope she feels comfortable enough to come to me. My DS10 already had the basic sex talk with me. I was nervous but glad he came to me!
These are really helpful tips. My younger sister is at this age, so it will be helpful to talk to her about it without making her feel awkward!
This is really good advice. Having raised two daughters, this was a big topic around my house.
My period started on Halloween. Luckily I learned enough in health class at school to know what was going on or I would have just thought it was a Halloween curse. lol.
I only have a son so I don’t have to go through this, but my sister has two girls and I remember us talking about it before. 🙂
I know this convo is coming up in our house soon and I am so not ready for it!
I still remember when I tried having a discussion with my daughter about her period for the first time. I don’t think either of us was fully ready for that talk but since the school had it on their agenda I wanted to talk to my daughter first. I love your tip about asking her what she knows first.
I’m currently pregnant with my first daughter. That conversation had never crossed my mind, it seems so surreal to me, but exciting.
We had this talk with our daughter last year, she just turned 12 so it’s coming any day now. Now if we could get her to wear a bra without a fight…
Great tips… I remember my first period started in the early morning. I didn’t know what to do, stayed in the bathroom for long time!
It’s always a good idea to help your daughter be prepared for this time in her life. I knew what it was when it happened but if I had no idea I would have flipped out!
I’m actually excited about talking to my daughter about her period. I wasn’t raised by my mom , and I remember being so scared when I had my period for the first time I didn’t even tell my dad.
