Agua Fresca Recipe
Fruity & Refreshing Agua Fresca Recipe
If you've been reader around here for a while then you probably already know that I love to host parties and have people coming over. So needless to say, I'm already preparing everything for a Cinco de mayo get together! Nothing too complicated, just delicious drinks, a couple of appetizer and good friends and family.
Actually, between you and I, Cinco de mayo is one of my favorite party themes! It's so laid back and colorful and people are always in a good mood + I get to eat and serve all the delicious Mexican fare I love, yes chips and guac could pretty much be my soulmates.
And I know we all love a good margarita but there's nothing more refreshing, especially for the heat of May, that a big pitcher of Agua Fresca. Aguas Frescas (literally fresh waters) are like light, nonalcoholic juices made with fresh fruits, herbs, and seeds.
I personally love the strawberry and the watermelon ones but the lemon mint agua fresca is by far my favorite! In my opinion, there's nothing that's more refreshing, delicious or loved by the crowd than this agua fresca.
Making it is incredibly easy, just prepare a traditional lemonade, add some lemon wedges and some mint leaves and that's it. When it's time to serve it add a lot of ice and get refreshed.
My best advice is to make it in advance, prepare the agua fresca pitcher the night before and place it in your fridge. In my experience leaving enough time for the fruits and herbs to mingle with the lemonade packs the agua fresca with a punch of flavor. If you are feeling like adding something extra you can also add some strawberry or pineapple slices, or even some watermelon cubes.
