Things to Know Before Starting Nursing School
Things to Know Before Starting Nursing School There will come a time in everyone's life when they need to consider what they are going to do for their career. Perhaps that time is when...
As much fun as it is for children to go trick or treating, it can be a dangerous night for little ones. Keeping our children safe as they enjoy Halloween is key. Here are a few tips that will help keep your children safe and give you some peace of mind. We hope that this Halloween Safety Tips for Trick or Treaters post inspires you.
Make sure your children who are trick or treating without you stay in a group. The larger the group, the safer the children should be. Give them stern instructions that they all stay together and not allow any of the children to fall behind the rest of the group.
Making sure that your children are holding your hands is a great safety tip. If you have more than one child trick or treating, make sure that everyone “grabs a hand.” Not only will this help children from getting separated from you, but it is much safer for everyone (adults included) when crossing the street.
Halloween is all about fun, but it's important to prioritize your child's safety. Here are some tips for choosing a costume:
Give your children whistles. Explain that they are only to be used when they feel they are endangered. These whistles can be worn like necklaces. Be sure they are on the outside of the costume so they can be accessed easily. This is one safety tip that should certainly be followed.
Teach your children to yell “Fire!” if they feel they are in danger. Studies have shown that people are more likely to look at someone yelling fire than someone yelling for help. Have your children practice yelling fire so you know they will be heard.
Taking pictures of your children in their Halloween costumes is a great safety tip. Make sure to capture them from multiple angles, getting a good look at the entire outfit. This way, if something unexpected happens, you can provide a detailed description to the authorities. Specific details will be much more helpful than simply saying they were a ghost or pirate, especially since many kids might have similar costumes.

Make sure that your children carry all their “necessary information.” That information would include their parents' names and addresses, telephone numbers (all the cell phone numbers as well as any landlines), and email addresses. Pin this information to the inside of their costumes. Do not drop it in their treat or treat container or even in their shoes. In a dangerous situation, children may drop (or throw) their trick-or-treat containers and run out of their shoes.
Although Halloween being a dangerous holiday is not a pleasant thought, parents should still be prepared to keep their children safe. Unfortunately, these safety tips are no guarantee that nothing will happen to your children, they are good ways to do all you can to help keep them safe on Halloween. We hope that this Halloween Safety Tips for Trick or Treaters post inspires you. Happy Halloween!
