All-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters are standard.

As opposed to previous year models of the Ford Flex, the EcoBoost engine is no longer available with the SEL trim on the 2012 version. Ford has also moved the rear windscreen wiper for better coverage. An armrest with cupholders has been added to the second row of seating in the Limited and Titanium trims.
