Wordless Wednesday – Pinewood Derby 2011 with LINKY
One of the coolest things about Boy Scouts has got the be the Pinewood Derby which happened this past weekend.
As always, I am amazed the creative abilities of these boys. I love the vibrant colors of the cars. The Pinewood Derby cars and designs seem to get better and better every year.
My son's Pinewood Derby car is blue with a bright orange flame running down the front.

I miss Boy Scouts! We didn’t do Pinewood Derby last year, we did sailboats that he had to blow with a straw in order to get to the finish line.
Saw this on TV once and I thought it was utterly cool!
That is soooo cool! I had never heard of the derby before.

WOW…its been like a million years since I’ve seen these! My 28 yr old son did scouts but not my 13 yr old. I cant believe how advanced the designs are! I remember the whole engineering mindset to get the weight just right, wheels slick and not sticky…
the paint jobs are FANTASTIC! Looks like memories in motion!
One of my fondest memories about my Mom was when she was a pack leader for Scouts (or Den Mother nowdays) There really werent any males to do the job. I still remember their song- 2-4-6-8 who do we appreciate? Pack 48! The soap carving, the lttle cars- it was a houseful of boys!
Your son looks like he enjoys the scouts!
