Panama City Beach Means Family Fun
We just got back from a very fun trip to Panama City Beach, Florida. My husband and I packed the car, got the kids and hit the road to head down to PCB for...
Let me tell you why visiting Walt Disney Resorts in Winter is a Great Idea. Disney World is busiest during the summer months, when the weather is great across most of the country and the kids are out of school. This does not mean that summer is necessarily the best time of year to visit the Disney Parks. It turns out that the winter months are probably one of the best times of year to visit Walt Disney World, the parks are entirely dressed up, crowds are thinned out and the weather is much more reliable.
Read on for all the reasons why a Disney World vacation in winter is a great idea to get started planning the trip of a lifetime for you and your family.
Because more families are unable to visit the parks in winter due to the school season and the holidays, Disney offers more package and special deals during this time of year. The family on a budget that wants to visit WDW, can now afford that expensive weeklong stay at a resort and several park passes.
Summer days in Florida are broken up by the midday storms and lightning shows, making it harder for families to get a full day in at each park. Winter in Florida is a great time of year to be outdoors, because the days are not too hot, nor are they cold. The rain storms are also absent during the winter, so you don’t have to find alternate forms of entertainment of hide in your hotel room till they pass.
Every time of year at Walt Disney World is exciting, but the winter months are especially beautiful, especially when the park is dressed up for the holidays. If you happen to visit between November and January 1st, you get to experience the exceptional beauty of the park after hundreds of thousands of lights and decorations have been added.
Standing in line for rides in the heat of summer is too much for a lot of Disney guests, but the winter months mark a period of shorter lines and wait times, and even if you do have to wait the sun is not beating down on you like it does in the summer. An additional benefit to less people in attendance is the ability to book dinner reservations at your favorite restaurants, something that is hard to do during the summer months.
Where else in the country can you visit an outdoor water park in the middle of the winter? Disney World has two water parks and both are open for the winter for families that want to have fun in the sun and really get away from it all. Pools are heated so even slightly cooler days make for fun days in the pool, and don’t forget you can still enjoy the lakes, canals and boat rides around the park without having to worry about freezing water.
I really want to take the kids to Disney for Christmas. Their parades and special events always look so amazing. Disney never does anything unless they do it big, big, BIG!
These are great tips and Disney in winter seems to make so much sense especially for us in the north. If I go back I will remember these ideas and go iin winter.
Definitely a great idea! Sign me up to go please 🙂
Disney is my favorite place to go on vacation during winter. The weather is perfect, it isn’t scorching hot and it isn’t freezing.
We love visiting Florida in the winter. Disney World sounds like a great family destination for a winter getaway.
I wouldn’t mind planning a winter Disney trip. You make some really good points. I’ve been wanting to go back for a while now.
Until this year, our favorite time to visit WDW is November. It’s not hot or cold and if you waited to the right time you could see the Osborne Family Lights.
I think anything Disney related is always a lovely idea especially if you have kids! This is definitely a lovely choice and I’m sure the whole family will have an amazing time there!
You don’t have to talk me into it! We LOVE Disney during the winter time!
We have always wanted to go during the winter. It’s magical any time during the year!
As much as I love Disney, I have never really had that feeling that I had to go to the parks. I would like to take the Disney cruise, I think that would be fun.
Awesome tips! I love that going there in the winter would mean less crowds, and fairer weather. I will have to remember that the next time we plan a trip to Disney.
Disney is amazing all the time, but Christmas there is just plain magical. I would love to go back this Winter.
