Zurich is Switzerland's largest city, and one that has long been considered a hub of finance, industry, and commerce in Europe. Despite this, the city has been able to retain the cultural charm and tradition of a true Swiss town. It is, therefore, no wonder that Zurich is Switzerland's leading tourist destination. In fact, it is estimated that approximately one million people visit the city of Zurich on an annual basis.

Zurich, Switzerland offers the visitor a number of attractions and sight-seeing opportunities to enjoy. A museum-lovers paradise, the city boasts an astonishing 50 museums. For example, the Kunsthaus Zurich is a fine art museum which is considered one of Switzerland's most important. Its collection encompasses pieces ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. In addition, those with a fondness for shopping will delight in the exclusive boutique shops, larger department stores, and enticing cafes of the Bahnhofstrasse. And Zurich's old town is another wonderful area in which to explore the city's antique shops and art galleries. The younger set will be enchanted with a visit to the Zurich Zoo, which is committed to the protection of a variety of animal species, and which contains more than 260 different species and 2200 animals. Zurich is also home to a number of impressive architectural structures, such as the Grossmunster and Fraumunster cathedrals.

Eating establishments and accommodations are both plentiful in the city of Zurich. The cuisine is a mixture of traditional Swiss dishes, avant-garde fare, and, due to Switzerland's diverse population, a wide array of International cuisine. One will have little difficulty finding restaurants which specialize in the cuisine of Germany, France, Italy, and many other countries. Additionally, the accommodations in Zurich span the range of the budget and preferences of each and every visitor. From luxurious five-star hotels to humble youth hostels, there are a large number of lodging choices both within the city and in the surrounding areas.
