Disney set its foot in the cruise industry in 1998 with their flagship cruise liner, the Disney Magic. Now the newest addition to their fleet of luxury and family friendly vacation vessels, the Disney Fantasy, seeks to break its way onto the scene by offering a unique blend of quality vacation options for kids and parents alike.
With three prior cruise liners from which to draw inspiration, Disney has changed the game with their latest edition to the cruise community, creating a veritable theme park ready to take on the high seas.
ABOUT THE SHIP
At 1,115 feet in length, the massive vessel incorporates a 4,000 passenger capacity. Its 14 decks include 1,250 state rooms. Every inch of the expansive square footage calls to mind an blend of cruising's heyday with a modern flair. The “designed with families in mind” décor and layout gives guests an opportunity to fully utilize every inch of the ship's decadent amenities.Each of the rooms boasts top of the line décor that's less like a cruise ship and more in line with a five star hotel.
At it's finest the ship offers the Concierge Royal Suite with 1,781 square feet of living area, complimented by floor to ceiling windows and a private jacuzzi on the verandah.Each dining option aboard the Disney Fantasy offers unique courses to tempt even the pickiest palates. Guests can catch a shows before or after dining or slip into the Adults only restaurant serving Northern Italian cuisine. A fast food cafe, creative ice cream parlor and an enchanted garden experience are counted among the nine dining options on board.
THE ROOMS
The most basic option includes a Sealy Posturepedic queen size bed with convertible sofa and ample storage, allowing for a spacious feeling that's uncharacteristic of other cruising vessel accommodations. The rooms only improve from there, with plenty of options boasting private balconies, equipped with patio furniture and child locks. Additionally LCD flat screen's and iPod docking stations are provided for in room entertainment.
To stave off cabin fever, especially for the little ones, the company offers an expansive selection of entertainment options. Youth programs include a nursery and a teen lounge, as well as a fully stocked arcade, an interactive theater for kids and parents alike, and an interactive mystery game starring the lovable Muppet cast. For a chance to be transformed into an iconic character, children can visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for all inclusive fairy tale princess makeovers and swashbuckling pirate transformations.
ADULTS ON THE DISNEY FANTASY
The fun isn't exclusive to children. Adults can bask in the serenity of Disney Fantasy's two adults only pool areas, Quiet Cove Pool and Satellite Falls. Each provides an incandescent environment for grown ups to kick back and breathe in some down time. Of course, there's plenty of pool space for the little ones as well. From Nemo's Reef, a fantastical waterplay area to Aqua Duck, a 765 foot acrylic tube slide that shoots across the ship with ups downs and round and rounds, there's plenty of waterborne fun to be had.
