Get Schooled: Homework Help Desk
I have three kids in school in various grades and at one time or another they all seem to need help with homework. When they were younger, this really wasn't a big deal. However...

I get asked a lot: “how did you start blogging” or “how did you get started doing what you do?” The truth is that is a tough question to answer because the fact is, I have always been a writer. My mother bought me journals growing up and I wrote novels in them instead. I completed my first book by the age of 8. It was my handwritten book of over 150 pages detailing the life of my character and I even had a pen name. So the writing part, has always been a part of me.
The marketing part came next. I have always been a pretty outgoing person and have really never met a stranger. When I was trying to decide in high school what I wanted to do with my life, I was told by many teachers that I should check into marketing. Fast forward to college a few years later and my adviser told me that I had to go into marketing. So I joined a few associations and an MBA in marketing later, I knew that I had found a calling in life.
When it comes to blogging, everyone has to start somewhere. I started writing on a site called Epinions and I was a moderator at Cafe Mom for the Georgia forums so I spent a lot of time writing. Next I landed a great gig writing for a startup parenting magazine called Knack Parenting. I did a lot of their articles and online blogging as well. Sadly the magazine didn't last but my love for blogging was born so I started my own blog in 2008.
8 years later and my online presence has grown to over 360,000 social media followers and tons of loyal blog readers. I do it all one post at a time.
The biggest tip for me that completely changed my blogging careers was to attend the conferences. I rarely go to the sessions anymore but I always find time to network and meet new people. Many of the jobs that I do every year are because I have met other bloggers and pr people at conferences. One of those conferences was where I met the people from Domain.ME.
