As the cameras in our smartphones get more and more powerful, it's sometimes easy to forget the appeal of a dedicated point-and-shoot, such as Sony's Cyber-shot W730 digital camera.
The W730 packs a lot of impressive specs into its small frame. The camera boasts 16.1 megapixels, allowing it to take some truly exceptional high-resolution photos. It's easy to get caught up with the numbers, so it's worth understanding the practical benefits of higher resolution photos. In short, it means that users are better able to enlarge, crop, and zoom in on photos without a loss of picture quality.
The Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lens also provides an 8x optical zoom, ensuring that the user can capture far-off pictorial subjects as though they were just inches away. For the home video enthusiast, the Cyber-shot W730 can also capture video in 720p quality, ensuring that memorable moments look great years from now.
One of the most important innovations in this camera is the inclusion of SteadyShot image stabilization, which will help cut down on blurriness in action shots; it allows the camera to react to both horizontal and vertical movements. This is particularly useful for users who take photos while walking. Performance in dark environments has also been improved, thanks to an upgraded flash. Instead of illuminating the subject and leaving the background a dark blur, the flash in the W730 works harder to illuminate the entire scene evenly.
The W730 is also a capable portable photo studio. Further alterations can be made to photos using Beauty Effects. These include skin tone adjustment, blemish removal, and even teeth whitening. With that in mind, the W730 can become the go-to camera for portraits.
The most attractive attribute of the W730 Power-shot, for many users, may be the addition of the camera's automatic setting. While many users will prefer to dive into the camera's features and menus, most others will prefer to let the camera do the work. iAuto mode is capable of making changes depending on the scene, lighting, distance to the subject, and even the appearance of faces in the frame.
Sony remains a leader in point-and-shoot cameras, ensuring that dedicated cameras have a place in our lives alongside our smartphones. The Cyber-shot is one of the latest pieces of technological evidence that they're here to stay.
I realy like the way this looks- very sleek and modern. I dont have a smartphone so still use a digital camera. I have an old Sony that has lasted and lasted but it sure doesnt have the nice features this one does. Perhaps this will go on my Christmas list!
That looks like a really nice camera! I love how sleek it looks and what it has to offer!
My father has this camera and I love his. I Have been debating getting one myself because I love how lightweight it is and it takes awesome photos!
I always forget about the ease of the point and shoot. This one looks really sleek and modern!
This looks like a great camera that I could actually operate. Right now all I have is my cell phone but have been thinking of getting a camera. I need one that is user friendly though and operates quickly.
My family members have this camera. They love the ease and how slim it is. I have to admit I need to get back to a camera. With the emergence of cell phones and I pad I moved away. Great reminder to come back to quality 🙂
I’m in the market for a new camera; this looks like a great pick! I’ll have to look into prices!
I just recently bought a new camera and it’s amazing how they’ve taken away so many manual settings in the latest cameras and put everything on manual. Not a big fan of that!
What a cute camera!
This camera looks so cool! Thank you!
This looks like an awesome camera! My daughter has been looking for a new one.
I am hemming and hawing about getting another point and shoot. I like mine but I wouldn’t mind that sweet lens there.
I am looking for a new camera. Thank you for sharing such a great post.
Wow, this sounds like a great camera… and seems so easy to use. I have been looking for something simple to take on vacations, this just may be it. Thanks so much
That looks amazing, great size to toss in my diaper bag for on the go with my kids!
When I go on vacation I take a digital camera. I don’t have a smart phone. This looks like a good camera.
This looks great! We have the older model of the Cyber Shot and always loved it.
Great looking camera! I love how sleek it is. I would use that everywhere.
I got my oldest something similar to use for her first digital, she loves it. Also the CARL ZEISS lens is awesome!!
I want this camera!! I need a new one for vlogging!
When it comes to technology I might as well be living in the dinosaur age. I don’t have a smartphone and I don’t have a digital camera. When I am on the market though, this looks like the camera for me! I just love it’s features!
I love my camera like this. Great for travel!
This would be a great camera for taking quick shots! i love its capabilities
I really need a new digital camera, this one seems to have a lot of great features and isn’t too bulky.
I haven’t used a point and shoot in a long time but, this one looks really awesome! SO many options, I like that.
My daughter has been asking for a good camera for her birthday. I think this one fits the bill. It’s lightweight and the perfect size for her. Plus Sony is a good reliable brand.
I had a Sony Cybershot a few years ago and it was a pretty decent camera although not as nice as this one. This camera has better features.. like 16.1 megapixels and picture/beauty effects. Much nicer than my old Cybershot or Windows phone camera.
Cool camera! Love the Optical SteadyShot Image stabilization with 2-way active mode feature. And the beauty picture affects would help a lot.
