Is that picture above just like you or someone you know?
There is someone in my life who texts a lot. She texts a lot while she is driving and this really scares me! Everyone close to her has asked her to put down her phone several times and for a while, she usually does but then she goes back to her texting while driving ways.
Did you know that Texting While Driving causes 1.6 million accidents per year, 11 teen deaths EVERY DAY and Nearly 25% of ALL car accidents?
Texting While Driving is about 6 times more likely to cause an accident than driving intoxicated and in fact, is the same as driving after 4 beers plus is the number one driving distraction reported by teen drivers.
Texting While Driving means you are 23X more likely to crash, is the same as driving blind for 5 seconds at a time, takes place by 800,000 drivers at any given time across the country and slows your brake reaction speed by 18% – HumanFactors & Ergonomics Society
AT&T has started the It Can Wait campaign. The It Can Wait campaign aims to save lives while at the same time teaching people to put down their phones!
IT CAN WAIT
The It Can Wait movement has two main goals: 1) reduce the number of automobile crashes caused by texting while driving, and 2) spur advocacy to show that texting and driving is as dangerous as drinking and driving. AT&T, garnered the support from 1,500-plus organizations (up from 160 the previous year), enlisted celebrity help, created a moving documentary and engaged audiences via social media (#ItCanWait). And these efforts may be making an impact.
WHAT IS DRIVEMODE FROM AT&T
AT&T’s app designed to prevent texting while driving, DriveMode, used to only be available for Android devices. However, AT&T announced last month that it’s now available for iOS, making it the first free no-texting-while-driving application for iPhone that’s offered by a major U.S. wireless carrier. To learn how to use the DriveMode app, check out this video.
We all know about the dangers of texting while driving yet many continue to do it anyway. Download the app today!

Speed limits on Texas highways typically range between 75 and 85 mph. You’d think this would be enough to prevent drivers from speeding, but some feel even 85 mph isn’t fast enough. Unfortunately, close...

Can the text or call wait after you drive? Ofcourse it can! Thank you for your message in increasing awareness on this campaign. I’m very passionate about it. 🙂
I admit that I used to be a texter and driver! Now I just put my phone on silent and turn it away from me so I can’t see it so I won’t be tempted to look.
I don’t drive so this hasn’t been an issue for me but this is still something that I think is of great importance. It’s sad to think that something so simple can cause such havoc.
I didn’t know these statistics. This is pretty scary stuff. I have never texted while in my car. I know my kids would never do something like this. I feel all parents who have teen drivers should have a talk with them about it.
I think that texting is worse than driving under the influence, at least with the latter your eyes are still on the road while the former , your eyes are off the road. This is a very useful app.
I will never understand why some feel the need to text while driving. Countless of accidents and lost lives have occurred because of this! I feel like if someone needs to text that bad that they can at least have the courtesy to pull over somewhere and do that. 🙁
This might sound crazy, but I might be the only person in the world that does not have a cell phone, neither does my daughter. My husband has one, but he does not text. But this app would be good for some friends I know.
This is an amazing life saving app indeed. I love that AT&T came up with it. I will for sure share this with my friends and family so they can spread the word. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t text and drive – but one of our neighbors’ teenage friend was driving up the mountain (very curvy) and fast – and texting – she totaled her car – she came out ok – so scary – I’ll check into the app just to know about it! Thank you
Texting while driving is such a terrible, and deadly habit. And as a parent with a teen driver, it’s even more important that I model the behavior that I want him to have. I don’t even have my phone out or near me while I’m behind the wheel.
I think it would be great if all carriers created an app like this. I would put it on hubs phone because he is terrible about texting and driving. He is one of those people that feel like people just can’t wait for him.
It’s a huge No-No to text and drive. In my area, the police are vigilant about it and would pull you over if they saw you. It’s not worth the pain and suffering that would come in the aftermath of a texting accident. I would never do it. Actually, I don’t even know how anyone can text and drive at the same time… Dangerous and stupid!
This is something that I see far too often. Especially with the teenagers around here. I wonder if there is a program/app available for other carriers?
Thank you for sharing this app. While I never text and drive, I do have some friends that do, I always fuss at them when they are doing it while Im in the car with them. Im going to share this app with them-thanks!

I try hard not to even talk on my phone while I am driving let alone text. I have precious cargo with me and you’re right – it can wait.
I love this. Texting and driving such a dangerous thing to do. Everyone should leave their phones alone until they get where they’re going.
It CAN wait.. What we see from people texting and driving is really crazy.. people need to pay more attention to the road then their phones.
So true! I totally support this pledge. Everyone of us should do this. Thanks for sharing 🙂
This is a very great and necessary app! It’s about time they create something like this! Texting and driving is awful and seriously shouldn’t happen
I agree, and you can’t trust a teen mind to decide not to do it. I love this.
Texting and driving took so many lives already. I hope that every driver would stop doing that.
More people, both young and old, need to take this pledge. Texts can definitely wait.
This is great for drivers. It is so super important not to text and drive-it is so dangerous.
My friend was in an accident because of texting while driving. I learned the hard way by seeing him suffer…
Can the text or call wait after you drive? Ofcourse it can! Thank you for your message in increasing awareness on this campaign. I’m very passionate about it. 🙂
I never text when I drive. I can never understand why people do this. Glad there’s a movement to stop this
I admit that I used to be a texter and driver! Now I just put my phone on silent and turn it away from me so I can’t see it so I won’t be tempted to look.
This is a great post, any call or text is not important enough to put my daughters at risk! It can WAIT!
I don’t drive so this hasn’t been an issue for me but this is still something that I think is of great importance. It’s sad to think that something so simple can cause such havoc.
I wonder if other providers have this app. It’s definitely a struggle for me to stay off me phone while I drive.
I will never text and drive. I don’t even answer my phone when driving. I’m just very cautious on the road.
I am embarrassed to admit my husband texts while he drives more often than I am comfortable with. I am guilty of playing with Spotify too 🙁
I didn’t know these statistics. This is pretty scary stuff. I have never texted while in my car. I know my kids would never do something like this. I feel all parents who have teen drivers should have a talk with them about it.
This is a cool app that AT&T finally released. Not texting and driving is something we all should do.
I think that texting is worse than driving under the influence, at least with the latter your eyes are still on the road while the former , your eyes are off the road. This is a very useful app.
I really hate when I see people texting and driving but it’s so common. I think the auto-mode will help a lot of people.
Been into an accident once coz I’m texting. I know better than do that again!
It has to wait. There is nothing that is that important to text and drive.
I will never understand why some feel the need to text while driving. Countless of accidents and lost lives have occurred because of this! I feel like if someone needs to text that bad that they can at least have the courtesy to pull over somewhere and do that. 🙁
Such an informative and eye-opening post! We need to be reminded of these statistics on a daily basis!
This is something we need to take seriously… My friend had an accident because he was texting while driving… 🙁
I never text and drive, it’s just impossible to do both; you need to concentrate!
I think a ton of people could benefit from this app. It is so much more important to keep your focus on the road!
I have never texted while driving. I always wait for a stop light or sign and I beg my kids not to either, so yeah, I want to look into this
I NEVER text and drive and always pull over before making/receiving important calls. Thank you for this very important life saving message. God Bless.
I hate to see people texting and driving. I don’t know why with the stats so high, people tend to think, ‘nothing bad will happen to me.’
I’ve tried to get everyone in my family to take this pledge. It worries me silly that some still text and drive.
Nope not us! We will never text while driving I’ve already stated how much I HATE it when people do it.
I think this is a great campaign and I hope it catches on! Texting while driving just isn’t worth the risk.
I took this pledge many years ago. It really is NOT worth it.
This might sound crazy, but I might be the only person in the world that does not have a cell phone, neither does my daughter. My husband has one, but he does not text. But this app would be good for some friends I know.

This sounds like a great app. I never check my phone when i drive.
i try really hard to not text and drive!!! Too many sad stories of ad things happening…. Don’t wanna be the next sad story :-/

It can be SO hard to avoid using the phone when you’re stuck in traffic. It’s ALWAYS something that can wait!
It’s a huge No-No to text and drive. In my area, the police are vigilant about it and would pull you over if they saw you. I love this campaign! It is so inspiring – because texting while driving really can wait! Love that you’re helping to bring awareness to this!
When I think of picking up my phone, I tend to think about my kids riding in the back seat. It can definitely wait.
This is something that I see far too often. Especially with the teenagers around here. I wonder if there is a program/app available for other carriers?
