The Misfit Shine is a unique fitness tracker with many high-tech features. It is the first product to be released from Misfit Wearables, a company co-founded by former Apple CEO John Sculley. The Shine was funded via the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. We hope that you enjoy this Misfit Shine Wearable Tracker Activity Monitor post.
Designers sought to make the Misfit Shine the most attractive fitness tracker on the market, making it easy for users to wear daily. In the end, they created a small metal disc made of aircraft-grade aluminum that weighs only 9.5 grams and is waterproof up to 50 meters.
The device has absolutely no buttons or display, but the entire tracker is touch sensitive. Users turn on the tracker by tabbing on the metal casing two or three times, and the LEDs embedded along the edge of the device’s face light up to indicate activation. These lights can also help to indicate a user’s progress towards their daily activity goal, or tell the time by lighting up the LEDs in the hour and minute positions.
The Shine currently has an app available for download on iOS devices and Android. After users download the app on their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, they simply need to place their Shine directly on their phone or tablet screen, and then tap down to initiate the sync. Within the app, users can review activity and set new activity goals.
Many other fitness trackers only track running and walking. The Misfit Shine and its corresponding app, however, can track a large number of additional activities, such as cycling and swimming. So users can wear it throughout the entire day to see how their activity level changes. One can even wear it during the night to track sleeping patterns. After creating a profile in the app, the program will also calculate steps and provide estimates of the number of calories burned and the distance traveled.Unique to this tracker is its very low energy requirement. The Shine runs off of watch batteries, one of which lasts about four to six months in the device. Two batteries are included in the box with each Shine. Between this and the unique syncing system, this means that there are absolutely no cables required to use the Misfit Shine.
The Misfit Shine is currently available in dark grey, champagne, topaz, and jet black. Also included with the tracker is a rubber bracelet, allowing users to wear the Shine on their wrist, and a magnet clasp, so users can clip the tracker to any piece of clothing.
Shine is exclusively available in additional colors at Best Buy including Silver, Black, Champagne and Topaz.
