DIY Floral and Fabric Thanksgiving Centerpiece

DIY Floral and Fabric Thanksgiving Centerpiece
Materials
- Waverly Semi Gloss Acrylic Paint in Ivory
- Waverly Semi Gloss Acrylic Paint in Moss
- Waverly Semi Gloss Acrylic Paint in Maize
- Multi Surface Indoor/Outdoor Metallic Paint in Moonstone
- Waverly Ribbon 1-1/2″ in ivory
- Waverly Ribbon 5/8″ in dark brown
- Waverly Fabric in two different patterns/colors
- glass jar (7.5″ high x 3.5″ diameter)
- silk flowers
- 8-12 sticks from outside
- paint brush
- ruler or tape measure
- hot glue
- hot glue gun
- scissors
- rubber band
- uncooked rice or popcorn
Directions
- Paint your sticks with paint. I had 8 sticks and painted two in each color. Let dry completely.
- Cut each piece of fabric into 2, 22″ squares. (This was determined by measuring the vase: 7.5 + 3.5 + 7.5 = 18.5. Then add about 2″ on each side for the overhang. If you have a different size vase, you'll have to measure accordingly)
- Iron your fabric to remove creases. Place fabric, wrong side together, and fold over 1″ edge all the way around of each piece. Use hot glue to affix the pieces together.
- Place the vase in the center of the fabric and flip over the vase and the fabric. Place a rubber band around the fabric and vase to hold it in place, positioning the rubber band as close to the top of the vase as possible.
- Flip the vase over (upright) and cut two pieces of ribbon 48″ in length. Lay the pieces on top of each other. Tie around the top of the fabric, covering the rubber band.
- Fill the vase with uncooked rice or popcorn. Place the silk flowers into the vase and add the painted sticks. I find it helps to leave the flowers as-is, but to spread them apart from the bunch.
