Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express

There are many benefits to card membership, but one of the most valuable features is “First Bag Free.”  This feature allows Basic Cardmembers with a Gold, Platinum, or Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express to check their first bag for free on all Delta and Delta Connection® flights.

The benefit applies to up to nine people traveling in the eligible Cardmember’s reservation.  That’s a savings of up to $50 per person on a round-trip ticket or $200 for a family of four.  This benefit will certainly provide value  during the busy spring and summer travel months.

Here are some other card benefits:

·       Cardmembers earn 20,000 miles after their first purchase on the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card. Plus, up to another 5,000 bonus miles when two Additional Cardmembers are added to the account.

·       Delta and American Express will waive the annual fee for the first year of card membership, a savings of $95 for the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card.

·       Cardmembers earn card double miles on Delta purchases and 1 mile for all other eligible dollars spent.

·       The “Pay With Miles” feature allows cardmembers to start redeeming miles with as few as 10,000 miles for $100 off a Delta ticket, with no blackout date or seat restrictions.

·       There is no cap on miles earned.

·       The online application provides approval confirmation within one minute.

    We always thought the whole DISNEY thing would be our kids most favored, treasured trip…for 3 of them it was the first time flying. But it turns out, our kids had WAY more fun at a summer cabin trip a few years ago that included our entire family! We fished and had campfires, went into town one night for dinner, & cooked REALLY great dinners on the grill. We played cards and watched movies together. It was full of incredible memories of family CLOSENESS, no big crazy schedules, running to airports, or shopping, and was only 3 hours by van. My daughter wrote a very sweet story at school about her very best vacation and THIS was the trip she wrote about. We learned that fancy trips planned out for months, saving or practically wiping out our bank account is NO match for comfort, coziness and just taking some quiet time by a lake and watching a sunset or laughing til your bellies hurt during table talk. We want to do it again soon but have a baby coming into the family this late summer, early fall. Maybe NEXT year!

    This summer were going to take our first disneyland trip. I always like to bring lots of sunscreen snacks and a few new cheap toys like, books, coloring books a game etc.. so they have something fun and new they can do to keep them occupied.

    We took a two week family road trip through ND, WY, MO, and SD, hitting Yellowstone and the Black Hills and lots of other cool things along the way, when I was about 8 years old. I had so much fun and have so many great memories from it! This year, I’m planning on taking my kids, 7 and 8 on the same route we drove 25 years ago! Can’t wait!

    Best family vacation? My MIL took her 3 kids and 4 grandkids (plus spouses!) on a European cruise! Amelia was only 14 months old at the time, but she did GREAT! It was an amazing adventure. We also stayed 3 nights in Rome after the cruise ended.

    My best family vacation was last year when my husband, two kids, father in law, and aunt and uncle went to the outer banks. We had such a wonderful family time and the kids had a blast. It was really nice to have help with our kids from our family too!

    My best family vacation was two years ago when my daughter MaKayla was two. As a child my family never took us kids on vacation- it just was not realistic. Vacation was foreign to me. But my in-laws paid for our entire family to go to Disney World. It was a special time. I shared my first vacation with my daugter on her first vacation. My husband and I enjoyed every minute watching her soak in the magic of Disney World. It was certainly priceless.

It was awesome to see the little school house (in the middle of NOWHERE) such a different way of life it was for them. My tip would be to bring pillows for long car rides…can get uncomfortable 😉

    The best trip I’ve taken is with my 3 daughters to Disneyworld for my oldest daughter’s high school graduation. We went to the Epcot Center, MGM Studios, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and lots of nice restaurants.

    My best travel tip: If you are traveling with friends and it is a car trip and you all decide to pack a cooler rather than stop to buy food, talk to each other about what you are bringing. We didn’t and we ended up with 18 hard boiled eggs for 3 people.

    My best travel tip is to travel light. If I fly I only take what I can carry in carry-on (I never check) and I don’t bring things like sunscreen or shaving cream because I can almost always find a local store to buy them pretty cheap without the hassel!

    My mom and dad took me on caribbean cruise with them. I had the best time. We did snorkling and parasailing. There were so many activites that we did. We went to 4 different islands in the bahamas. Never forget that trip.

    Last summer we took AMTRAK across the country. We got a family room for sleeping. The kids loved it. It took 3 days each way. We played cards and other games, watched the changing scenery and met lots of interesting people. I can’t wait to do it again someday.

    We want to take our three kids to Bryce Canyon in Utah. It is a beautiful place to visit and I went there often as a child. I want to share that with my kids!

    My best travel tip is to always have something for the kids to do if they get bored while driving or in a hotel room, etc. I pack small toys, notebooks and pens, etc to make sure that they have something to do if need be.

    Best vacation was probably a camping trip. We got to enjoy time as a family, see some caves, wade in the water (and watch a kid slip and get kind of wet – no damage, though), and generally enjoy ourselves. Best travel tips – check the weather and plan for delays. Summertime has construction and winter tends to have worse weather so delays are almost always part of the plans.

    The best family vacation is always the last family vacation. The end of september 2010 we drove to Yellowstone National Park and saw amazing animals, colorful hotsprings, and amazing scenery. We even saw Old Faithful blow her top. Then in the evening my husband, two children, and I snuggled in a small cabin and talked and laughed about our amazing day. I can’t wait for our next best family vacation.

    Best Travel Tip: If you wear glasses and your Passport has you pictured with your “old” pair, bring those frames with you if possible.

    I just got back from my spring break vacation! I spent 4 days in a hostel in Washington DC, seeing the city, mostly on foot and having a blast! So very much walking but such a neat and friendly city with ever so much to see and do!

    My summer plans as of right now are, alas, nothing special. I’m hoping to go to the beach with some friends to boogie board, eat fresh seafood, and watch people set off fireworks from our beachside hotel. Who knows if this brilliant plan will come to fruition–but a girl can dream!

    If we are going to a certain destination to specifically do a lot of sight seeing, we choose a time of year that the temperatures are more reasonable. I don’t know anyone that likes to be hot and miserable when trying to enjoy a vacation.

    My summer travel plans involve traveling 1200 miles to attend a grandson’s graduation, then another 300 miles to celebrate my mom’s birthday & spend a few days, then travel 200 miles to spend a week with my oldest, dearest friend, then hang out with family and then attend the wedding of another grandson – and the long drive home!

    My best family vacation ever was about three years ago when we all went to NYC for a family member’s wedding. It was amazing to spend a week with my extended family and then to go to NY on top of it was the icing on the cake. One day we’re at the beach on Long Island and the next day we’re in Central Park in the city. It was my boyfriend’s first trip ever to NY as well and he LOVED it.

    We are going to drive out to Washington State to visit my sister and her family this summer. I can’t wait as I only get to see my sissy & the kids every once in a while. They have a Star Wars Exihibit that we are going to go and see(my son doesn’t know & will probably freak out!) So I think it is going to be a good fun trip!

    Grandpa paid for his kids, their kids, and their kids to go on a cruise for a family reunion. It was so awesome because everyone could do what they wanted all day and then we had family time at dinner. Noone had to cook or clean!

    We are taking 3 1/2 weeks and going to Wisconsin to visit my husband’s family this summer . It has been a long year and we are SO ready for a vacation! We only see my husband’s family maybe once a year so it will be great to visit. It is always so relaxing and my kids are so excited about seeing all their aunts, uncles and cousins ,including a new baby born last month! And they adore their grandparents!

    The best vacation my family every took was when I was in the 6th grade. It was a Summer trip to Six Flags over Texas and we had so much fun! We stayed over night and went to the park next day. I had been there previously when I was smaller, but this time, it was a lot more exciting. We rode rides (except the Runaway Mine Train- I was terrified!), ate hot dogs (I didn’t. I was suffering from motion sickness), and saw a couple of free shows. I don’t remember everything, but I remember we went on this Looney Tunes ride that was a water ride and featured Taz. We haven’t had another vacation since, but it is one of my favorite memories!

    WARNING! NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACHED! I learned on an ill-fated airplane flight that you can eliminate the smell of vomit in a confined space with fresh (un-used) ground coffee. When a baby got very sick other passengers started to look green–the flight attendants took mother and baby to the bathroom to clean them up, and liberally sprinkled coffee on the affected seats and carpets. Within minutes there was no foul smell at all…

    My best memories are of those vacations as a child. My mother had a bit of the wanderlust in her soul and would pack six kids and a dog in the station wagon in a heartbeat. She was apt to change the destination en route, but it always seemed like lots of fun.

    Our best family vacation was to Myrtle Beach a few years back – not only is it one of the most relaxing trips we ever took, but going to Myrtle Beach is like being transported back a few decades, so we definitely were able to “get away from it all” as a family for one wonderful week. We even turned off all our cell phones and laptops most of the time so we could just focus on having a fun time at the beach with each other. Thanks!

    My favorite trip was the one I took with my kids to the national parks in Utah and Arizona. We had our pictures taken under an arch at Arches National Monument and under a bridge at Bridges National Monument, and camped near Zion’s National Park and the Grand Canyon. It is wonderful to be in nature with the ones you love.

    The best vacation I ever had was when I was 17. My dad was stationed in the Seycelles Islands & we got to fly over and spend a month at Christmas with him. So many memories were made and it was a good thing – he passed away the next year.

    The best vacation was with the kids at Disney in Florida. We took the auto train and slept in the family suite. The kids were so excited nobody slept. The days flew by and we took so many pictures of everyone and everything. My son was picked to get slimed at Nickeloden and this made him famous at his elementary school.

    Our best family vacation ever was the one we just took during spring break. We took our two boys to New York City for a week and had a wonderful time. They are at great ages for traveling — good walkers, adventurous eaters, and fairly cheerful. We all gained a new appreciation for each other.

We are so hoping that the gas prices go down a bit this year because we would love to travel to Niagra Falls this summer. If not, it will be another staycation for us,. but that will be ok too, because at least we will be spending it together.

We had a great time, visited lots of places, met an online friend and swam almost every day.     Our best family trip was when we went to the Outer Banks. My brother rented a house for his family, my family and my sister’s family. We stayed for 10 days and had an absolute blast.     When traveling by car, I like to pack my things in stackable laundry baskets. Then when I get dirty stuff, I put it straight into a laundry bin and it’s easy to not get the dirty clothes mixed in with the clean.

    When we were kids, my father got sent to school in Denver for three months. He took vacation before that, and we drove cross country and got to see a lot of sites – Yellowstone National Park, The Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain National Park, The Mormon Tabernacle .
    I loved it! We had paper to draw on, and played games in the car while they drove.

    Our best family summer vacation was a trip to Washington, D.C. two years ago. It even trumped our week in the Bahamas last year. There was so much to see and do that we were never bored.     Here’s my best travel tip: make a packing list. As soon as you start planning your vacation, make a list of exactly what you need to pack, from the number of underwear you’re taking to prescription meds you’ll need to your camera and extra memory card. Don’t ever think “Oh, I won’t forget my passport.” Put it on the list! Take a copy of the list with you and pull it out when you’re packing up from the hotel and guest room.
