There is no question about it, I am a big festival person. I love going to festivals and I especially love taking my family. Festivals are a great way to see what the city has to offer while getting some exercise and spending time outside. If you’re anything like me, finding family-friendly activities that don’t break the bank is tough on the weekend. Next weekend we are heading to a local festival here in Atlanta and I absolutely cannot wait. The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival will be held March 25-26, 2017.
This past weekend, my youngest daughter and I attended the Brookhaven Georgia Cherry Blossom Festival which is very close to our home. This is the park that we go to a lot and my son even had his 7th birthday party there. Blackburn Park off of Ashford Dunwoody Road in the Perimeter area is the perfect sized park for this festival.
About the Festival
The Third Annual Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival is a two-day, free-to-the-public event that brings together Brookhaven community residents and visitors from all over to showcase the businesses and attractions that make the community so special. The festival was held this past weekend March 25-26, 2017.

Attracting over 15,000 attendees, there are fun activities for the whole family, including a Children’s Village, Classic Car Show, Arts & Crafts Marketplace, Musical Performances and Pet World!

Activities at the Third Annual Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival
- Children’s Village: Enjoy plenty of shade and seating in the Children’s Village as the kids enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, bounce houses, rock wall climbing, games and more.
- Classic Car Show: Love hot rods? Get ready to check out antique cars, trucks and customs at the Classic Car Show. Prizes are awarded to “Best in Show”, “Best Interior”, etc.
- Pet World: No need to exclude your favorite furry friends from all of the family fun! Bring them along to Pet World for the dog shows, parade, costume contest, adoption-area, games and prizes. There will even be animal care professionals on deck to answer all of your pet-care questions.
- Musical Performances: Take a break and listen to the cool sounds of musical performances from the Breeze Kings, Gurufish, Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project, Wesley Cook, Blair Crimmins and the Hookers, Willie Ziavino and the C.O.T. Band, DYN-O- MITE, House Broken and more local student talent.

Register for the 5K / 1K Event on March 25th
Been looking for an easy way to try a 5K / 1K? Want to kick off those spring fitness goals? Or, maybe you need a family-friendly activity that provides a positive outlet for the kid’s energy. The festival has you covered! The two-day event kicks off with a 5K Run / 1K Walk on March 25th benefiting the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival 501(c)(3) non-profit cultural organization. Bring the kids and the pets! Everyone is welcome to participate. Visit the 5K registration website to register!
- 5K / 1K Registration Cost: Early Registration until March 21 st (Adults – $20; Kids – $15)
- Regular Registration until March 23 rd (Adults – $30; Kids – $20)
- Onsite Registration on March 25 (Adults – $35; Kids – $25)

Our Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival Experience
With over 15,000 attendees, this festival offered fun activities for the whole family, including a Children’s Village, Classic Car Show, Arts & Crafts Marketplace, Musical Performances, and Pet World!
Food Trucks
There were plenty of food trucks and beverage options available. Of course, we had to try the pickles among other things.
Children's Village
The Children’s Village village did not disappoint. Kids could get face painting, jump in bounce houses, play games and so more. We opted for the $10 wrist band which meant unlimited bouncy houses.
Artist Market
The festival had a nice little artists market with locals peddling their wares. It was fun to walk around and look at everything. We did make a few purchases.

Classic Car Show
The Classic Car Show showcased some of the coolest cars around. Hot rods, oldies, and some pretty amazing restores were on display for everyone to see.
Pet World
Pet World was the perfect place to bring our sweet dog, Taffy. She could chase a lure to get some exercise, get hydrated at the water stations, and get some delicious gourmet dog biscuits.
Music
With lots of musical performances during the day, there was no shortage of tunes to sing along to and we discovered a few artists that are new to us.

I love that the event is family AND pet friendly. I would love to attend however, we live way too far. Cherry blossoms are so pretty! Maybe next year, we can plan a vacation in Atlanta right around this time to witness the Cherry Blossom Festival.
