Tips for Summer Entertaining

Bomb Pops PackageWe love entertaining in the summer. Throwing a summer party is all about enjoying the season and sharing food with people you love.

The best part about summer entertaining is getting the chance to re-connect with friends we didn't get to spend much time with during the school year because we are all so busy. What we also love is that we can do the majority of it outside and cleanup is simple yet quick.

There are so many great ways to throw a summer party and while the décor may change, I always follow a few tips to ensure that my party will be a success:

5 TIPS FOR SUMMER ENTERTAINING

1. Always make food that is easy to eat. Food should be portable and easy to eat in just a few bites.

2. Refreshments should be well….refreshing. We make fresh lemonade and sweet tea (a staple here in the South) while floating fresh fruit in each drink. We also have other drinks that our own recipes. Having multiple drink stations is helpful as well.

3. We always serve old fashioned favorites like chips & dip, potato salad. The things that people remember growing up always tend to be hits at our parties.

4. Don't forget to plan for bugs. We keep a fan our during our events to chase bugs away plus have citronella candles all over the place and have mosquito repellent available for the guests as well. Outside can mean bugs and we do our best to keep them away.

5. Don't forget the music. We have summer music playlist that we update every so often and play at every one of our parties.

We love to have cookouts with family and friends. I like to go all out making sure kids and adults are happy. I usually buy water balloons, water guns, and bubbles for the kids. For the adults I like to hang up lights, let hubby play the guitar 🙂

My tip would be to go to somewhere like Dollar Tree or Dollar Store and find all kinds of awesome décor for your summer parties! You could have a different theme for each party such as (Hawaiian, Tropical, All-American, Fiesta, Popsicle, Beach, etc.) Party after Dark by using mason jars (you can decorate) with tea light candles in them. You can spend $10-$30 and have your party looking fabulous!

When entertaining this summer, make sure you have a place for guests to cool down. The heat can cause them to become ill, and some people are sensitive to the heat. Offer plenty of cold drinks without a lot of sugar. Create some fun games for the youth, maybe offer some small prizes!

  232. My best tip is to have lots of great music queued up. Hard to have a bad time with good jams!

My best tip for summer entertaining is to do everything outside — patio or even at the park — and have everyone bring their favorite potluck dish!

We make sure that we have a trash can with a bag on it and put on sign it that says ’empties’ so that people throw them in there instead of in the trash. Then we return them and get some money back! (:

My best tip for summer entertaining is keeping every light and easy. I always have food which is not too heavy like salads and sandwiches. I also make sure to have chilled appetizers like cut celery stick, carrot sticks, and broccoli. Desert is always fresh fruit and sherbert.
