How to Apply a Perfect Fake TanHow to Apply the Perfect Fake Tan

Summer is coming up quickly which means everyone is going to be longing for that perfect tan. Sure you can go tanning in a tanning bed to get that tan you want, but that can be extremely damaging for your skin, and yeah you can do it the natural way and just lay out in the sun but that takes forever and you can also run the risk of getting burned and damaging your skin as well if you're not careful, have you ever tried fake tanning?

A lot of people are afraid of fake tans because they think that it comes out patchy and can't ever look natural, or they are afraid that they are going to look orange when they are done. Well, sure…all of these can happen but if they do it is probably because you are not applying it properly. Today I am going to be sharing with you some tips and tricks for applying your fake tan to make it look beautiful.

Exfoliate

In order to get a nice, smooth, and even tan you will want to make sure you exfoliate your skin really well first. If you have any excess dead skin or debris on your skin it can cause it to become patchy or uneven in certain areas. Just simply exfoliate in the shower with a body scrub and loofah and you will be good to go. We recommend this fabulous Art Naturals Organic Arabica Coffee Scrub: The Most Powerful Remedy for Varicose Veins, Cellulite, Stretch Marks, Eczema & Acne – Deep Skin Exfoliator That Promotes Cell Repair & Rejuvenation

Moisturize

Next, applying some sort of moisturizer before you apply your fake tan is also a good idea. You want to make sure you give the moisturizer time to soak into your body first before applying your fake tan though. This just provides the tan with a bit of a primer and clean slate to adhere to when you go to apply the actual tanning product. We suggest this 100% Pure Moroccan Argan Oil  or if you prefer a lotion, we use this one as well: Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Body Lotion.

Application Mitt

Using an application mitt is so important for two reasons! One, it will prevent your hands from getting that gross orangey color and two, applying fake tan with your hands is extremely messy and can make your tan look very streaky and unprofessional. Skip using your hands at all and use that application mitt! Try this Thermalabs Ultimitt Set for perfect application.

Wear Loose Clothing Afterward

Once you are done applying your fake tan, you don't want to wear any tight clothing articles because they can affect the process of your tanning product, plus you don't want to get the fake tan all of your clothes. Stick to dark, loose clothing and you will be safe. I would recommend a loose fitting dress or something along those lines.

Be Patient

A lot of fake tanners are time release products and they take a bit of time for you to notice results. Be sure to plan for this and make sure you are applying your tan at the proper times and if you don't notice being any tanner right away, don't freak out.

If you've had bad experiences with fake tanning in the past, maybe you weren't doing something properly. Check out these tips and keep them in mind next time you want to get a nice bronze-y glow.
