Many many years ago, my husband and I were dual income earners with no kids. We both were professionals and did pretty well for ourselves. As a result, we had a housekeeper come in once a week to do a deep clean.
We both LOVED this. It was wonderful. We did so much pre-cleaning (my husband still hates this to this day) before the lady came, that our house was always in pretty good shape.
Fast forward several years and three kids later, a housecleaner is pretty much the last thing we can afford. Oh how I miss those days though. There is no pre-cleaning and very often there is no cleaning at all. Things are kind of done on an “as needed” basis.
Of course, now pretty much every room needs something.
For Mother's Day this year, I would absolutely LOVE to have a whole house, deep (even the baseboards and carpets cleaned) cleaning. Did you hear that husband? Yep, that's right. I will forgo jewelry. Books. Even a mini-vacation. All of it just to have a clean house.
Rayovac wants to give one lucky mom free maid service for an entire year. And as much as I would love to win it, I can't enter. Because I am thrilled to announce that I have been chosen to be part of the Rayovac Power Blogger Panel with some other fabulous bloggers like Cat, Janice, Matt & Sarah, Malise, Trisha, Audrey, Tanya, Amy and Shannon.
See that shiny new badge over there that says Rayovac Power Blogger or above? That's me!
Or you can choose another mom to win. If she wins, you win too! So pick your favorite, most deserving mom and you both could have maid service for an entire year!
If I didn't have to clean for an entire year…
I would read.
Shop.
Nap.
Catch on my Tivo rather than delete when it gets to full.
Finally learn another language. Ok that is wishful thinking but hey a girl can dream, can't she?
What would you do with your time if you didn't have to clean for an entire year?

I am longing for the day when we can afford to hire a housekeeper. My home can definitely use it! In the meantime, I guess I’ll just have to enter the sweepstakes and hope that I win.
I’d so love this, but would be embarrassed to have them see the clutter in our garage and basement. I used to clean when in college and it was mostly moms who would give up things to ire cleaning and therefore have MORE time with kids and hubby on weekends or evenings. It does make sense to have that prioritized and to give moms/women the inner strength to say it is NOT my job to be a maid! My daughter just started her own part time service as she worked a second job for a maid service years back as a single mom. She did not think it frivolous spending either…it is all about priority TIME!
thanks so much…will check it out! So cool that RayoVac has “seen the light” and made you guys “POWER” bloggers for them. LOL! Looking forward to seeing more from them!
I would fall over if ever I had enough disposable income to hire a maid service 🙂
Gonna check that out- my sister in law has done in home cleaning for 25 years, and that gal has stories to tell! Surprisingly too, alot of folks were like you- no kids and they cleaned before the maid arrived~
