Have you been mattress shopping lately? It has got to be the most confusing thing in the world. At least it is to me. When I go into a store, I am often confused by the different brands, models and types.
Lately my husband and I have been shopping for a new mattress. Ours is pretty old. There are even conflicting reports on how long you should keep a mattress. How often you should turn it. What you should look for.
There is so much information out there. For instance, we tested out the Simmons Beautyrest Black mattress recently at a store. By “tested out” I mean that we laid on the mattress for a few minutes. I didn't take a nap or anything. I wish we could have actually spent a while on a mattress. I think that it would help to make the decision much easier.
To me a mattress is best when it is plush and firm. Not like a rock but I don't want to sink to the bottom when I lay on it either. I like a mattress that is comfortable yet snug around my body. A mattress is not something that I want to get lost in, I can do that with pillows.
The ideal mattress for my husband is the ComforPedic mattress. He is especially enamored with memory foam and the idea of memory foam. He has a memory foam pillow that he loves and has been wanting a memory foam mattress for a while.
The reason that we have been shopping for so long? We cannot agree on what type of mattress to buy. Well unless we sleep in separate rooms and then we are good because we both get what we want in a mattress.
So for now we will keep looking but if you have any ideas on how to make this process less tedious, less painful or any stories about how you and your spouse compromised, share them with me. I am curious as to how other couples would/have handled this.
One of the few major purchases we made was 5 year ago. we bought a sleep number bed. I HIGHLY recommend them over anything out on the market today- over memory foam, over any traditional mattress. Honestly, you find your sleep number and you are out like a light.
I used to be one to wake up 2-3 times a night- no more- sound sleep the entire time. The other things I like are it will last for 20 years, there are always sales happening and they have a social media presence .
