National Get Outdoors Day with OFF!
The outdoors….makes me happy! What about you? My entire family loves being outdoors. We camp, ride bikes, play, swim, hike and do so much more. All of it outside! It is hot and sunny...
Last year, as a fairly new blogger, I was excited to be asked to attend events. I still am although I cannot attend nearly as many events this year due to lack of time.
One of my most favorite events of 2009 was the Hebrew National Picnic With A Purpose. Dawn of My Home Sweet Home was the Atlanta host last year and I was honored to have been invited to her event.
One of the best parts of the event was that I got to bring my entire family. And we got to do something to give back. We are lucky family. We have more than a lot of people and the chance to give back or to do something that can positively affect the lives of others is always something that I am passionate about.
This year, I am even more honored to have been asked to be one of the hosts of the official Hebrew National Better-Than-A-Picnic Picnic. The picnic will be held next Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Centennial Olympic Park and EVERYONE is invited! I am co-hosting with Dawn, Mishelle, and Renee.
There will be hot dogs, fruit, and drinks along with music, a mechanical bull, giant puzzles and more fun stuff for families. This year's picnic has some new features and of course, some fabulous service projects that the whole family can get involved in. We will be collecting donation for these organizations:
Atlanta Community Food Bank, Kids in Need: Sometimes it’s the simplest of tools that are the hardest to obtain, like school supplies. Kids in Need is a program through the ACFB that works with eligible teachers and schools to help provide students with those much-needed supplies. http://www.acfb.org/projects/kids_in_need/
The Atlanta Children’s Shelter: It’s easy to make a child happy—a stuffed animal, a matchbox car, a set of paints or playdough; they can all easily do the trick. Unfortunately not every child has the means to attain simple pleasures. Donations of this kind can make a difference in a child’s life. We have the power to make that happen, one gift at a time!http://www.atlantachildrensshelter.com/
SO PLEASE JOIN US! The event is FREE and will be from 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM
I was given a stipend from The Motherhood on behalf of Hebrew National because I am one of the hosts of this fabulous event.
Hi there. Just saw this post and thinking maybe you can advise me. How does one get to attend events? I think I live in quite the prime area (Chicagoland), but to date i’ve just gotten 1 offer for an event I attended last week. Are you approached or do you approach? Any tips for me? Thanks
Doesn’t it make you feel good about yourself when you can do something to give back to your community. Our whole family got involved with the Walk Now for Autism her in Sacramento..now we have over 75 family members and friends who do the walk on our team. It’s what we have to do in each of our communities…giving back does make a difference.
