My anticipation heightened during the short flight from Atlanta to New Orleans. This was my first opportunity to meet and interview Nicholas Sparks and the actors in his film, THE BEST OF ME. I just love movies and reading plus the chance to meet Nicholas Sparks was just amazing! This love story begins with a bittersweet reunion of two high school sweethearts, Amanda and Dawson for a funeral of their friend Tucker. After being apart for twenty years, they find that their love never died. the couple find that the forces that once drove them apart were capable of being even more threatening today. Given a second chance, this love story encapsulates the power of a first true love and the difficult choices to be made. Once in the hotel, I received a tote full of goodies and our itinerary. At dinner, I met many of the bloggers and listened to their past experiences.They described last years event for the movie SAFE HAVEN in Southport, NC. I gleaned much info for formulating my questions for the next day. My granddaughter Laurel and I had just watched the movie the night before.
The next day we were shuttled out to Magnolia Plantation, a lovely southern antebellum in Natchitoches Parish,Louisiana. Since this was to be the last day of shooting at this location, much needed to be accomplished. Taking a quick tour of the outside facilities, we were in a tent watching the filming on monitors. Our observation tent moved around the set to help facilitate the interviewing process.
At lunch we had an opportunity to sit and converse with the actors and crew. It was a special time for us all!After lunch, Nicholas was finally able to join us. He is such a personable and magnetic man who is involved in all facets of the movie. Having seen all his other movies(I have personal copies) and read all his books, this was a special treat for me. Nicholas had just participated in his first Twitter Party the night before and we had many of the same questions. He quickly put us at ease and set up the parameters of the interview process.

What an awesome opportunity for you! I am not a huge fan of Nicolas Sparks. his movies are so sad and I am a very sensitive person. I would of loved to have been on set though!
