Minnie in Paris Hairbow Headband Tutorial

Minnie in Paris Hairbow Headband Tutorial

It is no secret around here that we are HUGE Disney fans. We love everything Disney. We visit Disney World a few times a year, we go on Disney Cruises and we watch pretty much everything has made. My daughter has long had a love affair with Minnie Mouse. She loves Minnie and she has dressed up as Minnie Mouse many times. We hope that you love this Minnie in Paris Hairbow Headband Tutorial.

We were excited when the book Minnie in Paris (see below) arrived. We instantly knew that we would create a hairbow with some duct tape and washi tape that we had on to create something fun with. We added a few more things like a few more tape varieties, glue, a plastic headband, Eiffel Tower embellishments, black with white polka dots charm. Our costs were about $6 for one completed hairbow headband plus we have lots of supplies left over.

And…my daughter just LOVES it. She wore it everywhere today and got so many compliments. It was fairly easy to make. All of the instructions are below.

Supplies

  • Good glue – we used Alene's Original Tacky Glue (I love that stuff)
  • Plastic headbands (you can also use metal but I couldn't any really durable ones)
  • Duct tape
  • Washi tape
    Embellishments

Directions

  1. Start with the plastic headband. You want to cover it completely with duct tape. Press it down and smooth the entire headband. Don't worry if there are blemishes as we can fix or cover most them.
  2. Note how the entire headband is covered with tape and none of the plastic is showing. Make certain that it is completely covered and has a little room around the edges for cutting. Cut around the headband. Press the edges together and trim off any rough parts.
  3. Next cut strips off of duct tape in 12-14 inch pieces being careful not to let any pieces touch. Fold in half and match the edges as closely as you can. Don't worry if it doesn't exactly meet the edge. We will trim that off.
  4. In fact, see how the edges below don't match up? Go ahead and trim the edges now to make certain everything is covered. Keep your main bow pieces around the same size.
  5. Once you have folded and trimmed the edges, you can now start folding your first strip of the bow. Then the second and third strips as well.
  6. Once you have folded all of your tape pieces as shown in the picture, take the small washi tape and tie it all together. Make certain it is tight and then smooth all of the tape down.
  7. Next pull the loops of bows in different directions. I only did this slightly but you could pull them and make circle bow.
  8. Now glue your embellishments on and hold them down. The Eiffel Towers are made from a hard felt. They would not stay down unless I held them.
  9. I then made these smaller washi tape bows to glue in the center and really give the bow more dimension.
  10. I had to glue one at a time and hold them in place. I waited about 10 minutes to let everything dry. I glued the black and white polka dot center stone and let that dry for another 10 minutes.
  11. Once I finished the bow, it was not ready to glue onto the headband. Remember when I said earlier that any mistakes would be covered? Now is the time to cover them! I added my glue to the little crease area on the headband. I just guessed on where to put the bow because I like hairbow headband bows to be a little on the side.
  12. Once I glued the headband on, I waited about 15 minutes to make certain that everything was dry. I LOVE how it turned out.

Instructions are coming next week on how to make your own Minnie in Paris matching purse. Now find yourself a cute model like the one below to wear your fabulous creations.Minnie in Paris Hairbow Headband Tutorial Minnie in Paris Picture Book Disney

About Minnie in Paris

Minnie in Paris begins At the airport, Minnie is so busy taking care of her nieces, Millie and Melody, that she accidentally switches suitcases with Penguini the magician–and finds that his suitcase is full of bunnies instead of bows!

Minnie must round up the mischievous little bunnies, find Penguini, and make her bows in time for the show. Will she make it?   Readers are treated to a stunning tour of famous Parisian locations, from the Louvre to Tuilleries Gardens to the Eiffel tower, to a classic Parisian bistro—all in search of Penguini's bunnies.
