Boy Scouts of America
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Boy Scouts of America for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Scouting was a huge part of my life growing up. I was a Girl Scout through seventh grade. There are so many positive benefits of scouts that I cannot even begin to cover them all.
I absolutely could not wait until my son was the age where he could join Boy Scouts. The second he started school, my husband and I began a countdown because we knew that our would love being a Boy Scout.
The Boy Scouts of America really embraces the role of a family and plans activities that our entire family can attend. We have camped together, traveled together and are planning to spend the night at the local aquarium in just a few weeks.
Many people have the idea that scouts are just about tying knots and camping. While the boys definitely do both, they are also exposed to technologies that are shaping the future, namely: technology, science, math and engineering (all part of the new STEM curriculum). Boys can now earn the Robotics merit badge for the these skills which can give them a competitive edge in their future.
Another important and often overlooked aspect of scouting is the confidence that it instills in boys. The changes in my son have been amazing. I am convinced that my son is more extroverted and does better in school overall because of his scouting activities. He is no longer shy around new people and really jumps right in to new experiences.
Yet another important aspect of scouts are the health activities. There are activities that help kids to stay active and in shape plus to live a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition.
The scouts really work hard to instill the core values that I want my children to have. The values and beliefs that are important to us. It is so nice to see what we teach our son at home being practiced in an activity that he loves so much!

My kids had tried some Scouting but then got wrapped up in all the sports available. I really feel that what you said is true…it allows so many hand’s on learning, great friendship without such competition, appreciation of life and nature, and community involvement and service. That background has to go FAR in life!
The experience of scouting is one not to be missed. Lifelong friendships, camps, badges, stories, the list goes on.
My Mom was a Den Mom when all 3 of my brothers where into scouting and it was so much fun. I was a Brownie and then a GS myself. I still support them when I can.
And may I say, your son is adorable in his uniform !
