Oreo Spider Cupcakes

makes 24 cupcakes

Ingredients for cupcakes

• 1 box chocolate cake mix
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 3 eggs
• 24 OREO cookies
• 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Ingredients for frosting

• 1 cup softened butter
• 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• 2 tbsp milk
• 4 cup powdered sugar

Directions

1. To make cupcakes, follow the box directions but fill the cupcake liners only halfway with batter. Place a cookie in each liner and finish filling them with batter. Let them cool.
2. In a zippered sandwich bag, place black candy chips in a corner and heat them in the microwave for 45 seconds. Gently massage the bag to ensure the candy is melted and smooth. Cut a tiny piece off the corner of the bag to pipe.
3. Make a black dot in the center of each M&M to create an eye.
4. Gently twist apart each Oreo. Cut each candy string into 4 equal parts. Press each piece into the icing to make 8 legs.
5. Pipe a little melted candy to act as glue and put the top back on each cookie. Pipe a little more melted candy on top to glue the eyes in place.
6. Let them cool and set.
7. In a large bowl, cream together butter and vanilla. Slowly add in the powdered sugar and milk, as needed, until everything is incorporated and the frosting is the right consistency. Beat for 5 minutes to make sure it is fluffy.
8. Ice the cupcakes and then decorate the tops with spiders.
