Whether you prefer action, excitement, or low-key activities, Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas has plenty of entertainment options that fit your style. We hope that you love this Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas: Entertainment for Adults review complete with a look at Flowrider surfing.
By the numbers, the Freedom of the Seas currently offers 18 theater performances and ice skating performances on board. The Arcadia Theater seas 1,350 guests and is home to many live performances, including musical revues, comedy showcases, and magic shows. The main shows are offers twice nightly (one early show, one late show), and special shows are offered during the day as well.
Royal Caribbean is one of the world’s largest employer of ice skating performers. The ship boasts its own ice skating rink with real ice, and 10 performers are part of the cruise staff. The Freedom-Ice.com show incorporates theatrical lights, video, and live performance to transport the audience to global events and places.
Shake it at several spots throughout the ship. The Crypt nightclub is the most popular dance joint, styled with a gothic feel. High-backed chairs and plush booths offer great spots to sit and enjoy a drink. A large dance floor is enhanced with club-style lighting, video screens, and effects.
You’ll find no shortage of sports options throughout the Freedom of the Seas. Center Ice hosts daily open skate times and has helmets and shoes available for guests to use. The main pool area includes a dedicated sports pool, and the signature rock-climbing wall gives adventurous guests the chance to climb 11 different routes up to 43 feet in the air.
The FlowRider surf simulator is the first-ever shipboard surf park aboard the Freedom of the Seas. Wave-like water flows at 34,000 gallons per minute. Since I was traveling with Levi this trip, I didn’t get a chance to try it, but you can check out me wiping out back in February if you’d like.
Other sports activities on board include volleyball and basketball on the sports court, a golf simulator, jogging track, and boxing ring in the fitness center.
If you’re idea of a good time is to lay back and relax, you can grab a lounge chair to sun yourself next to one of the pools or take a dip in any of the six whirlpools (pro tip: The Solarium is adults-only if you prefer to relax in a kid-free zone). The Vitality Spa & Fitness Center offers yoga classes to stretch out any tension you might be carrying, as well as full range of pampering services from massages to facials.
Art displays can be found throughout the ship to peruse at your leisure.
Curated galleries and works for sale are located at the Britto Gallery on the Royal Promenade.
For those that like to relax with a cocktail or glass of wine, 16 bars and lounges with different themes are sprinkled throughout the ship. Different entertainment options are available at each, such as trivia, card games, or singers.
The Freedom of the Seas has a full casino on board. Slots and gaming tables are open while at sea.
I have never been on a cruise but my husband and I have always talked about it. This seems right up my alley. You would probably find me in Casino or at lounge most of the time.
I so want to go on a cruise! I’ve heard some great things about Royal Caribbean, it looks like there’s a lot to do on the ship.
I love that you shared the video of you trying to surf on the flowrider. Lol! I never did get the hang of surfing on the ocean – boogie boarding… nothing. However, I rocked it when I went snowboarding. Go figure. 🙂
If I remember correctly, I traveled on this same boat for my honeymoon eight years ago. It was such a wonderfully relaxing trip on a beautiful ship!
I’ve never been on a cruise, but my husband and I are planning to go next year. I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about the Royal Caribbean cruises.
I’ve never been on a cruise but these activities sound like fun. I had no idea they had sporting activities. Flowrider looks like a good time.
What a fun trip. I have heard that the flowrider is a lot of fun. I would love to try that one for sure. Sounds like a wonderful cruise.
That looks like so much fun! I would love to go on a cruise sometime. I’ve never been on one before, and I know my husband and I are wanting to go sometime.
I haven’t been on a cruise yet, but hoping to go on one with my husband and young daughter if my stomach will allow it. LOL They look like a lot of fun!
Oh gosh. How fun.. I can’t wait to take a cruise some day. It amazes me how many different things they can acctually provide on a cruise ship.
We went on a cruise for our honeymoon in 2008. It was a ton of fun. I can’t say that we ever got bored, at least not for very long. There was always something going on.
We’ve never been on a cruise yet, but someday we hope to experience it. Bet it’s super fun to be on board that cruise. Live performances are the best!
I love to cruise, but have never cruised with Royal Caribbean. Sounds like you had an amazing time!
I would love to go on a cruise one day! I always say that I’m going to and then I never do. I think it’s time to plan it!!
