One of my favorite morning cereals to buy for my kids is Rice Krispies. They love ever flavor made and it is the one cereal they always ask for by name.
We also love to make fun treats with Rice Krispies. Of course there are the classic Rice Krispies Treats but during the holidays we like to get a little more colorful with our treats.
These were so fun and easy to make. We made two pans of Rice Krispies treats (double batch) by following the directions on the pan. Instead of our usual square pan, we used two cookie sheets that are about an inch tall, lined them both with wax paper and pressed the mixture into each pan.
Once we let the Rice Krispies treats sit for about two hours, we popped them right out of the pan with the wax paper intact. Then we grabbed our favorite cookie cutters and got to work. The best cuts were made with the candy cane and the stocking cookie cutters. We also used a tree but it didn't come out that well.
Once we cut out all of the shapes, we put them back on the trays. We used a quarter sized amount of white frosting on each shape to give something for the sprinkles to stick to.
It took us about 20 minutes to complete all of them and we absolutely love how cute they turned out. The kids were so excited. We hung then on our tiny tabletop Christmas tree.
This holiday season Rice Krispies is partnering with one of my favorite charities, Toys for Tots. The Treats 4 Toys program is about giving away toys this season to children in need up to $50,000. How great is that?
Want to participate? Here is what you need to do:
1. Make Rice Krispies Treats with your kids.
2. Share a picture of your Rice Krispies Treats on Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram with the #TreatsforToys hashtag. Make certain that your photo is public.
3. Kellogg's will donate to a child in need.
It is that simple!
For even more fun this holiday season, look for the limited edition red and green Rice Krispies (available in most retailers) and create some fun, holiday inspired treats.
