Leukemia and Lymphoma Society – Team in Training
My great aunt is just an amazing person. I have fond memories of her and I love visiting her. However, she lives in Miami and I certainly don't see her enough.
She has leukemia and right now, she is in remission. But she has been fighting this battle for as long as I can remember. It is something that truly never goes away for her. Her family worries.
There is a fabulous cause that you can support to help raise funds dedicated to ending cancer of the blood and in fact, you can even participate actively in the fund raising through various ways. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has the Team in Training program. This program raises funds to support their mission to end blood cancers. Raising funds for research advances through Team in Training can be a great way to help loved ones who are fighting blood cancer.
ABOUT THE LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY AND ITS MISSION
- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer.
-
The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
-
As the leading global non-profit organization dedicated to curing blood cancers, LLS has invested nearly one billion dollars since 1954, bringing us closer than ever to realizing the possibility of a world without blood cancers.
-
During this time the survival rate for many blood cancer patients in North America has doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. In 1964, a child’s chance of surviving acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood leukemia, was 3%. Today, about 90% of children survive.
ABOUT TEAM IN TRAINING
-
At its 25th Anniversary milestone this year, TNT has trained more than 570,000 people and helped LLS invest more than $875 million in research to discover and deliver breakthrough cancer treatments that are saving lives today.
-
A program that runs throughout the year, TNT gives participants a choice of more than 200 accredited national and local events in the United States and abroad. In exchange for raising funds, they receive four to five months of personalized training by TNT-certified professional coaches.
-
Despite advances in survival rates, about half of blood cancer patients do not survive, so more funding is needed to advance research and ensure access to treatments. You can help LLS achieve its goal of a world without blood cancers by joining TNT.

I support anything to do with helping those who have any type of cancer. I hold this very near to my heart. My mother passed away when I was 16 from cervical cancer. She was my best friend! I tell you those who have cancer sure are fighters! My mom fought it for 16 years, they found cancer cells on her right after I was born (she had me at 39). Your aunt is an amazing person, and definitely a fighter! Please give her a hug for me, for not giving up and keeping on fighting this battle. My thoughts and prayers go out to her. This truly makes me so happy to see how wonderful people are, at helping such a great cause!
