Since the birth of my first child, seeing Santa every year has been our family tradition. In fact, we see the exact same Santa year and we take video to combine showing how the kids have grown year after year. I love this tradition and I love the entire Christmas season. I love everything about the holidays. We hope that you enjoy this Love, Santa: A book for sharing the beautiful truth about Santa #LoveSantaBook post.
As a parent, one of the most bittersweet things so far for me has been two of out three of my children discovering the truth about Santa. My youngest is still on the fence but mostly knows the truth but I will keep silent until she brings it up first. I love the magic of Christmas and indeed the entire holiday season. A large part of that is because of Santa. I grew up with the same beliefs and saw him every year so I loved sharing that very same tradition with my kids.
However, it never occurred to me that one day they would no longer believe. I wanted to cry at first. Seriously. I don't want them growing up. Then I got myself together, talked my husband and we figured out how to handle it together. What we really needed was a book like Love, Santa.
Author Martha Brockenbrough shares a series of letters in which a young girl writes to Santa to ask about the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, and of course, Christmas goodies. Each year Santa writes back and they develop a relationship. This heartwarming relationship goes on until one year, the girl writes to her mother instead: Mom, are you Santa? Her mother responds to say that no, she is not Santa. Because Santa is bigger than any one person — we bring him out through kindness to one another and the power of imagination. This transformative tale spins a universal childhood experience into a story about love, giving, and the spirit of Christmas.

My sister-in-law is in the stage or her kids are just starting to learn about Santa. She so excited for Christmas this year because the older one is now understanding what Christmases. She loves doing Santa with them.
What a great idea for kids who have grown out of this aspect of Christmas. My friend’s daughter is struggling with this so I will tell her about this book.

This sounds like a great book! My twins just found out that Santa isn’t real. I think they’ve been on the fence for a while and that they’d still like to believe a little longer! I think I may need to get this book!
This is a wonderful book! I can still remember when I started to doubt if Santa was real, it wasn’t traumatic, but it got a lot of thought and discussion among our neighborhood group of kids.
This book sounds like such a healthy way to open a conversation about Santa. It’s a tricky thing to manage but this seems like a gentle way to go about it.
This book looks like so much fun! I love the attention to detail in the illustrations.
This sounds like such a sweet book and a great way to help kids transition into the unbelieving stage.
I would have loved this book when my Son was at that age. I have a few friends this would be perfect for I will have to share this with them.
I wish this book had been around when my kids were little. It is so hard figuring out how to break the news to your kids.
I wish this book had been written about 10 years ago! My son had the hardest time with this transition. I am so glad this book is there for kids and their parents.
This sounds like a wonderful book. I need to check this one out. This will be great for when my kids start asking questions. I’m not really ready for that yet.
We just went through this, this past year. I think a book like this would have been so helpful. Thanks for sharing!

This definitely does sound like a great way to explain to kids about Santa. It should make it easier.
Interesting take! My husband and I have actually decided that WHEN we have kids – we will actually NOT tell them that Santa is a real person. We do not want to start lying to our kids like that from a young age.
This is really great! I will have to pick up this book. My kids haven’t said anything. I don’t really know what they believe.
Now this sounds like a great way to share the truth about Santa. I vividly remember finding out about Santa and it was heartbreaking! LOL!

What a lovely book that adds more meaning to what the whole Christmas is all about. I think this is the best way to explain to kids what the truth about Santa is.
This book sounds like a great addition to our library. It handles a tricky subject that can be difficult to discuss with kids.
So gotta get this book for my girls! I’ve been buying Christmas books for them since they were born!
This sounds like a cute book. I am probably considered a bad mom because we didn’t go to the mall and see Santa every year. I just know how scary Santa can be for young children. We have run into Santa other places and community events occasionally and I always let them tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas.
I’ll be buying this book. It reminds me of when I wrote to my dad to ask about Santa. He wrote me back the most beautiful letter – very similar to this book. I still have it.
The magic of Christmas is a wonderful thing. To see the twinkle in the children’s eyes is the best feeling.
We decided to not to do Santa from the start. However, we believe that the magic of Christmas was still strong with our kids and we love seeing their faces light up over their favorite traditions.
What a wonderful way to break the news to them. It’s usually not hard but it’s still nice to have a way to lead in to it.
This sounds a fascinating book, we love what the truth about magic of Christmas, and it makes me feel great when I see my kids smile every Christmas.
I had the talk with my son 2 years ago, and it went a lot better than expected. I think he had known for 3 years prior to the talk – but played along for my sake

My kids are getting to the point this may be the last holiday before having “the S talk”…and I’m not talking about sex. I’ll have to take a look at this book for next Christmas in case it comes down to having a Santa talk.
oh man you just ruined it for me! Santa is real I tell you, real 🙂
This book sounds like a great way to soften a very hard blow for children.
I personally think this is the BEST way to have that discussion with your kids. Kids in school can either be innocent and let the cat out of the bag, or downright mean and tell kids who still believe in the Big Guy.
We need to get this book! There’s going to come a day where our kids will begin to question Santa’s existence. This book will help lovingly explain it.
This is such a sweet book and every kid has gone through this struggle and the secret always comes out eventually. I would love to read that book and the letters to Santa.
I am surprised that I haven’t heard about a book like this until now! It can be so hard when kids outgrow Santa and discover the truth, but this will definitely help make that transition easier.
This book really would have helped us break the news to our daughter, who we told when she was 9. My youngest though refused to believe the truth about Santa and kept on believing until she was 13 lol. In any case, this does sound like a wonderful book to ease children into the truth.
That sounds like a really interesting book. There is a lot of awesome lore about Santa out there.
I want to check this out. I love learning a bunch of neat Santa stuff.
I will have to get this book in a year or two. I have a niece who is Santa obsessed, but her older sister is starting to doubt the existence of a Santa Claus. I love the wonderful way of letting the child know the truth about Santa.
