For years, I wondered why my great aunt Pat had only white dishes. Finally one day I decided to ask her and I loved her answer. I was about 19 when she told me that everything was white because it always matched. If something broke or got lost, it need only be replaced with something else white. Brand and pattern doesn't matter as long as the dishes are white. We hope that you enjoy our 12 Essentials for your Dream Wedding Registry.
Instead she chose to add pops of color through garnishes or ingredients in her food. So white it is when it comes to registering for plates, we are definitely going all white. Since we are having a farm table custom built for us right now, our choices tend to lean to the more rustic side. As we are both foodies, our registry is definitely filled with all kinds of kitchen goodies along with items to make amazing tablescapes. We hope that you enjoy our 12 Essentials for your Dream Wedding Registry.
You can use it on the stove, pop it in the oven or even bake in it. A cast iron skillet will last your lifetime. In fact, in some Southern homes such pans are passed down from generation to generation. My skillet was given to me by my grandmother and she used it for years. Everything tastes better coming from a skillet, y'all. This Lodge Rust Resistant 11″ Cast Iron Skillet is exclusive to Macy's and a great pan to start your new life with.
Pick something sturdy that looks good but will last. Silverware that is matte may become shiny over the years so I prefer solid and shiny. Our top flatware pick is this Monique Lhuillier Pointe d'Esprit Flatware Collection. It's also dishwasher safe.
This is something that every single home needs. A good set of knives is imperative and will enable you to cut everything from vegetables to a freshly grilled steak. Our pick is the Zwilling J.A. Henckels Knife Block Set which comes with 15 pieces.
A casserole dish has so many uses that I can hardly list them all. You can serve anything out of this dish and even make an actual casserole. I have baked a cake in a casserole dish before and even boiled water for noodles. This versatile Circulon Symmetry 5.5 Qt. Covered Casserole can be used for a multitude of things.
When in doubt, grab a set of pots and pans. You will get the basics plus maybe an extra or two. Then you can figure out which ones you use the most and when you buy your second set years down the road, you can get the exact pans you need. This Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 12 Piece Cookware Set is a starter set of cookware that even a chef would be jealous.
This Maison Versailles Mix and Match Collection from Macy's is about the most perfect line I have ever seen in dishes. You can mix and match every single piece with four different patterns.
For a truly chef driven kitchen, choose something like this Breville Sous Chef Food Processor is powerful and packed with all kinds of kitchen possibilities.
While I don't consider this essential, I bought a waffle iron when I bought my first house. I have never once regretted that decision. This Cuisinart Belgian Waffle Maker with Removable Plates means not only do you have great waffles, clean up is a breeze as well. Not into waffles? Get a panini press or something else that you are passionate about when it comes to food.
This Martha Stewart Collection Natural-Edge Cutting Board is exclusive to Macy's and would really be a showpiece in your kitchen.
These Martha Stewart Collection Stainless Steel Measuring Cups will come in handy when you have a recipe you want to make.
These are the best mixing bowls around. The Martha Stewart Collection Set of 3 Non-Skid Mixing Bowls have measurements right in the bowls making it super easy to follow any recipe.
These Fiesta Bamboo & Silicone 5-Pc. Mixing & Serving Utensils are in festive colors and will pretty much handle every serving need in your kitchen.

These are great gift ideas. I would like to get married just so I could have another registry! LOL. Many of these things weren’t available when I first got hitched.
These are all great things to add to a wedding registry. I use my food processor all the time and I think everyone needs one.
I cannon emphasize good knives enough. We opted for a cheap set…. and they stink. Get Cutco or something that will actually LAST 20 years.
Good knife are so important. I just replaced our set after many years and it’s so nice having good quality sharp knives again.
My daughter is getting married next year, so she is just getting ready for the registry. I would never have thought to include a cast iron skillet. Such a great idea!
These are great things to have on your wedding registry. I have a cast iron skillet and I use it all the time.
This is a fantastic list of must have essentials and great registry suggestions. We actually own the exact knife block you shared and adore it!
I think these are some great ideas. It’s so nice being able to start your new life with the best cooking gear.
I really agree with the items in this dream wedding registry. I would love to receive any of them as a gift especially a Waffle Iron, Flatware and A Good Set of Knives
So many great items! Some I don’t even have, and I’ve been married 10 years in Feb! I need to get on buying these asap! Great ideas.
This is a great list, and I love the idea of getting all white dishes! Although already married, I wish I had a list like this to go by when my husband I were making our registry. And those waffles…look…amazing!
Such an awesome list! I always go for quality when buying something for my kitchen! Love all your suggestions here.
There is nothing like having all the kitchen essentials in your wedding registry, it saves you loads and it’s going to be easier once you move in to your new home. I always make sure that we have everything we need in the kitchen, because food is important especially when you have kids.
Our cast iron skillets are handed down too. My mom has those that belonged to my gram. 🙂
Oh, this is nice. I remember receiving at least 2 same items on our wedding.
I had just about all of these on the list. This is a very thorough list, I love it!
My best friend is getting married in Dec. These are great items and I hope some of these are on her registry!
I’ve already been married twice and have no plans to do so again. LOL These are great items for first time marriages. Especially when you don’t know what you might need.
I had all these on my list and more. Sadly, I got none of them haha
Such a great list. Young brides, I’ve known many, need this list!

We received a set of pots and pans that we still use – 9 years later. Our Kitchenaid mixer is also one of my favorite wedding registry gifts. If I could do it all over again, I would have stuck with kitchen necessities (we ended up with a set of silver that we’ve never used.)
This is such a great list. Putting a cast iron skillet on your registry is such a good idea.
What a list! My friend back home is getting married in a few months and was asking me about registry stuff which i had no clue about as we just did a quick ceremony and no wedding/guests/gifts. So this is great to share!
These are all definitely great registry items. I’d also add a slow cooker. It was the one thing I really wanted but didn’t get. Thankfully, mom had two so she gave me one of hers.
Too bad I am already married, lol, I want to put all of these things on my registry! lol. And those waffles look amazing. So yummy!
Good knives and a cast iron skillet! Yes indeed! Those are very important in a kitchen!
My most memorable wedding gift is a set of fine china. My mom gave it to me. It was HER wedding gift and she vowed to give it to her eldest child (that’s me!) on my wedding day. Awesome gift list.!
Oh, this is a lovely post. Wedding is a very important part of a couple’s life and you give us brilliant ideas on gift registry.
All of these are great! I’d have to say my faves and most used were my cooking set, knife set, and casserole dishes.
These are great registry items. Beautiful! I love that waffle iron 🙂 Shameless plug: adding a designer as well, like a gift certificate for a design consultation for their new home 😉
