A sunroom, also called a “Florida Room,” are becoming more popular as an alternative way to heat the home. It doesn’t hurt that they are relaxing too. Sunroom furniture is perfect for basking in warmth and light, and the space is great for creative types too. Here are some tips to design your sun room.
A sunroom can be styled to let in more warmth, provide a relaxing atmosphere, or to keep you protected from the elements off season. An all-season sunroom, or instance, would probably be best for someone who experiences moderate weather for most of the year. A three season sunroom would use a combination of screens and glass panels to let in light and allow for a breeze, but still offer some protection from the elements.
The style of roof you choose will largely base itself upon the roof of your home. The single slope roof style is the most common choice for a roof, but many homes have the gable style roof as well. You can also extend your porch or patio and enclose it, using the existing portion of your roof.
Wicker furniture sets are really nice for that tropical look. The densely threaded material can also come with a cushion for added back support or to add a bit of style or color. You can buy rocking chairs, or include a small table for two.
Don’t rush your plans to build a sunroom. If you can, use the existing part of your home to build one, and work with what you already have. Extend your home if necessary, but make sure you choose quality materials for the job. After you’ve invested all that time into building the room, stock it with comfortable furniture to make sure it was worth the effort.
