This Creating the Perfect Capsule Holiday Wardrobe post is sponsored by Misook. All opinions are my own.
If you are anything like me, your holiday events run the gamut from small dinners and intimate parties to huge events and concerts. I need a versatile wardrobe and I don't want to buy a lot of stuff but I don't want to wear the same thing. A capsule holiday wardrobe can get you through the season and beyond.
In 1985, Misook Doolittle aspired to create knitwear for the sophisticated woman who also wants comfort. Isn't that a lot of us? woman who never wants to sacrifice sophistication for comfort. Misook, a Korean-American started it all in her home “hand-knitting one-of-a-kind pieces that met her distinctive style needs.” Friends and strangers loved her effortlessly stylish designs. Soon women worldwide took notice of the Misook brand with its signature machine-washable “silky knit.”
A capsule wardrobe is a term coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called “Wardrobe” in the 1970s. According to Faux, a capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don't go out of fashion, such as skirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces…The term has come to refer to a collection of clothing that is composed of interchangeable items only, to maximize the number of outfits that can be created. The aim is to have an outfit suitable for any occasion without owning excessive items of clothing. This is usually achieved by buying what are considered to be “key” or “staple” items in coordinating colors.
I found the Misook brand to have an equal combination of classic design with the right mix of trendy pieces in a comfortable knits that will last season after season. I easily created this stylish capsule holiday wardrobe that can easily be holiday or party inspired with a pop of your favorite color. I would love to have the basic wardrobe of all of these mix and match pieces from Misook with a few trendy items from the current season.
Here are some of my top picks for my capsule holiday wardrobe along with suggestions on how to make each outfit completely your own style. I have a combination of shirts, jackets and bottoms to mix & match lots of outfits and when you add a few trendy pieces from each season, the possibilities are truly endless.
Pictured in order from left to right: Tank with tie neck, Silk Banded Neck Blouse White Pique Blouse, Grey Faux Suede Moto Jacket.
Each of the three shirts can work well with many types of outfits. The tank with the tie neck can easily be paired with sequin leggings and heels for a quick night out. Pair the silk banded neck blouse with a skirt and black suede knee boots. The white pique blouse would look amazing tied at the waist over a fab ball gown skirt. The grey moto jacket would work well over a sequin dress.
Pictured in order from left to right: Stretch Cotton Ankle Pants, Leather and Knit Jogger Pants, Boot Skirt with silver studs.
These stretch cotton ankle pants need a rose gold sequin tanks, Nude Loubs and the organza zip jacket from below for the perfect party girl look for New Year's. These leather joggers can be paired with that silk banded neck blouse from above. This boot skirt with silver studs would pair well with a sequin tank top or camisole.
Pictured in order from left to right: Organza Zip Jacket and Faux Fur Vest.
See above for organza jacket pairing. This faux fur vest is a statement piece that can be worn over anything.
Pictured in order from left to right: Wool jacket with grommets, Silver Sequin and Sheer Jacket, Lustrous Jacquard Jacket, Molten Gold Jacket.
I love nothing more than a good statement piece jacket and these do not disappoint. The wool jacket with grommets would pair well with brightly colored, high waisted pants and the silver sequin and sheer jack needs only to go over a dress. The lustrous jacquard jacket could be pair with a nude, sequin slip dress. This molten gold jacket would look fab with nothing underneath the jacket, a bold statement necklace and gold sequin skinny jeans.
