When I was a kid we would go to our grandmothers house every Sunday for dinner. We would always “help” her in the kitchen, which was mostly just snacking on the ingredients. I can remember her constantly getting onto us for being rowdy because we were “going to make the rolls fall”, which were always rising on the table when we arrived. #WhenWeBake

When the kids were young, we would always bake gingerbread houses for Christmas. The kids would help bake and decorate the houses. #whenwebake

One memory i have is when my mother was baking for a local restaraunt and she had to bake about 25 pies for Thanksgiving. She brought me in to help her and i was amazed at how much work she put into these. We had a fun and full day of baking and we were able to make all of the pies they needed.
My best kitchen memory growing up was spending hours at the kitchen table with my mom and siblings in the fall, cracking and shelling the hundreds of pounds of pecans we’d picked from our trees. We’d bag and freeze them for the year, and use many of them in our holiday baking. #WhenWeBake

I remember making popcorn balls and pulled taffy with my grandpa every year at Christmas. We use to butter our hands up and pull like crazy!

I love to bake. My kids always love to help out in the kitchen. It gives us time to talk and catch up. We use Country Crock instead of butter when we can.

When my siblings and I were younger, we used to “assist” my mother in the kitchen while she was baking. I’m sure it took twice as long, but we slowly built up baking skills while being rewarded with licking spoons, spatulas and beaters. #WhenWeBake

I remember the first time I baked cookies with my son when he was little. We had alot of fun and baked a bunch of different kinds of cookies. #WhenWeBake
My grandma was an amazing cook and I remember holidays filled with so many of her delicious foods. When she passed away my mother inherited her beloved recipe tin. Each year my mother and I would go through that tin every holiday picking out our favorite recipes written in my grandma’s handwriting and my mother taught me how to make each one. Now that I am grown I have inherited the treasured recipe tin and each holiday I spend special time with my children teaching them how to bake those special recipes. We share memories old and new and the recipes never fail to taste wonderful, almost as great as I remember my grandma making them. #WhenWeBake
#WhenWeBake I used to bake a variety of traditional christmas cookies with my grandma, they were given as christmas gifts to family, friends, and neighbors.
My mom and I have a tradition since I was 8 years old every year to bake a ton of baked goods and enter them in a local fair, and we still continue this tradition 16 years later! #WhenWeBake
Every year during blackberry season, my neighbor and I would pick buckets and buckets of berries; were around 9 or 10 years old. Then my mother would help us make pies. We did all the mixing, but mom rolled out the dough. Those were the best pies and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Oh and we’re still good friends almost 40 years later. #WhenWeBake
I remember my mom making no bake cookies and I just couldn’t wait for them to be done.
My #WhenWeBake memory is of my grandmother. I would go over to her house when my mom worked and she would take me in the kitchen and teach me things. I remember one time trying to learn to make homemade buscuits-not easy but oh so fun!
I remember when my siblings and I would make French Toast and orange juice for my mom every Mother’s Day . We cut a rose off the rose bush, put it all on a tray and my mom had breakfast in bed. I miss her.
