Exploring the 2019 Acura NSX: A Comprehensive Review

The Acura NSX is a proper sportscar, one that comes with a hybridized powertrain that produces 573 horsepower. While its low, streamlined body places it in the same design category as Ferraris and Lamborghinis, the NSX is an everyday-type supercar since it features a spacious cabin and behaves itself around town. We hope that this 2019 Acura NSX Review post inspires you.

Unveiling the Performance and Features of the 2019 Acura NSX

What's new for 2019?

Earlier versions of the NSX feature a front end with a silver mustache, but for 2019, the car company updated the front end to include a shiny black grille. The black hue is also present on the intakes and rear bumper. Color played a part in this year’s upgrades. Buyers can purchase the 2019 NSX in Thermal Orange Pearl if they want more attention on the road than a subtler shade would provide. Curva Red, Source Silver Metallic, and Casino White Pearl are other available colors. Red full-leather seats are now available as is Indigo Blue in leather and micro suede upholstery. Buyers can continue to purchase the performance car with black leather seats.

The carmaker also updated the Sportscar’s chassis. To make the vehicle more agile, the automaker stiffened the vehicle’s anti-roll bars in the front and the rear. The company made the rear toe-control link bushings stiffer as well. According to Acura, the updates to the chassis decreased the vehicle’s lap time when drivers took it around Japan’s Suzuka circuit. For 2019, the NSX has a new standard tire, which is the Continental SportContact 6.

Standard Features of the 2019 Acura NSX

For NSX 2019, the car company made some previously optional equipment standards. For instance, the sports car’s four-way power seats are standard in the 2019 model as are a premium audio system and satellite navigation. The car’s standard engine is a twin-turbo V6 that delivers 500 horsepower. The vehicle’s engine is partnered with a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

To give the vehicle added thrust, the car company equipped it with two smaller electric motors, called TMUs, or twin-motor units, that are located in the car’s front axle. With the added motors, the 2019 NSX achieves a total power output of 573 horsepower and a top speed of 191 miles per hour. The engine also delivers 476 pound-feet of torque. Because they operate independently, the motors can vary the torque to each front wheel infinitely, enhancing the sportscar’s cornering precision. The dual-axle power generators give the vehicle all-wheel drive.

2019 Acura NSX Review - Power and PerformanceTweaking the Programming

Acura’s NSX design team tweaked the programming of the performance car by fine-tuning the hybrid powertrain. They also adjusted the power steering, stability control system, and magnetic-ride suspension. This isn’t a change from earlier models, but the 2019 NSX has a large knob positioned in the console called “Dynamic Mode.”

Drivers can use the knob to change the vehicle’s drive settings between four options, which are Quiet, Track, Sport and Sport Plus. The Track mode increases the transmission’s shift by 40 milliseconds compared to the other modes. It also decreases the amount of interference that the stability control intervention system provides to give the vehicle more power and thrust. NSX drivers have the option of pushing the vehicle’s stability control button for 6 seconds to deactivate the system entirely while driving.

2019 Acura NSX Review - Power and PerformancePricing

Acura started the pricing for the 2019 NSX at $157,500, which is an increase of $1,500 over the 2018 model. However, this year’s sportscar comes with standard optional equipment that was previously priced at $4,500, increasing the vehicle’s value for buyers.

Details

The car company paints every NSX individually. Each one is finished by hand. The vehicle’s paint process takes more than 20 hours to complete for each sportscar. Inside the NSX, occupants will be surrounded by high-end materials and a sleek design. The car’s designers created the interior to support the driver while making it comfortable for the vehicle’s other occupants. Buyers can choose interior hues that include indigo, orchid, and ebony along with saddle and red.

NSX buyers can upgrade the exterior of their car with the Carbon Fiber Exterior Sport Package. It features a carbon fiber front spoiler, side sills, and rear diffuser. This package also comes with a dark chrome exhaust finisher. The carmaker equipped the sports car with Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers that squeeze traditional iron. An upgrade featuring weight-reducing carbon composite rotors is available. To ensure that the brakes work consistently when operating in different temperatures, the automaker included two-piece rotors.
