Elf on the Shelf Good Deed Challenge {PRINTABLES}

Elf on the Shelf Good Deed ChallengeYou almost have to be living under a rock to not know about Elf on the Shelf.  Theses mystical little guys are visiting homes all over the world, encouraging good behavior in little ones that can be reported back to the North Pole.  While this is a fun idea, why not challenge your little ones to do good deeds this holiday season?  I've created a series of printables for your Elf to deliver to your home this holiday season.  The 12 challenges are fun and easy to do with children and will encourage them to do kind and thoughtful things for others!

The challenges are suitable for all ages and while some require help from a grown up, many are things children can do on their own.  There is not a lot of cost involved in these challenges either.  Teaching children that giving doesn't have to come with a big price tag is such a wonderful thing!

The 12th challenge is especially important as it challenges your child to make a list of good deeds to do in the coming New Year.  Giving to others or helping one another isn't something that should be limited to the holidays.

Children can do many things throughout the year to make a difference in the lives of many people.  Here are some ideas…

  • volunteer at the animal shelter
  • have a lemonade stand and donate all the money earned
  • adopt a grand parent at the local nursing home and visit them regularly throughout the year
  • take a walk and pick up trash along the way
  • send letters to soldiers who are far from home
  • help a neighbor
  • leave a note that says “have a great day” on the windshield of a car
  • offer to let someone ahead of you in line

These are just a few ideas.  Children are giving and kind by nature and it will be fun to see what great ideas they come up with for this challenge! Let this challenge of good deeds become a holiday tradition in your home!
