@Yappem & The Awesome Party in Chicago

Yappem Logo On WhiteChristian Louboutin, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Manolo Blahnik, Nikon, Samsung and Epiphanie. Luxury brands that I know and love.

Last weekend all of these brands and more made up one of the coolest parties that I have been to in a while. Great cocktails, crudites and more desserts than people (about 5 times – YEAH!) made up part of what was The Awesome Party from Yappem last week in Chicago.

These brands were part of that event. Upon entering, everyone got raffle tickets that they could then redeem after playing around…completing some tasks in the Yappem app.

The party was at the fabulous Navy Pier in the Crystal Garden which is like an indoor terrarium with trees everywhere and glass walls. I loved the location.

This was the last event that we went to that evening. It was where I could finally relax, check out some luxury fashion eye candy, enter to win a few of those things, sit with friends, have a great cocktail and even some cotton candy.

Yappem is a social media platform where people can share their experiences — good or bad – about products, brands and places and earn real world rewards like gift cards to major retailers!

Users creatively post to the feed their own brand and product experiences, good or bad, and earn virtual Yappem Coins. The feed posting category options are:

  • Experience: Share your experience, related to brands, products and people.
  • Suggestion: Offer an idea or advice to a brand or your followers.
  • Support: Ask your followers and the brand community for help.
  • Compare: Compare two products or brands side-by-side to get input.

Users have the opportunity to accept ‘branded missions’ with pre-specified Yappem Coin rewards, which are redeemable upon completion of each mission. Users can engage by posting within ‘communities’ built around their favorite brands, or more passively by simply commenting on other posts, or just reading them.

The Yappem experience is designed to be shared. Users can follow or be followed by friends, family and others and share their activity through Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and email.

Once the user banks enough Yappem Coins they can be exchanged for a multitude of discounts, deals and gift cards from their favorite stores and major retailers.

Yappem is built on the power of taking the user from the “keyboard-to-sidewalk.” The rewards program bridges the gap between the virtual world and the real world. Yappem is available on yappem.com, as well as the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

First, bravo to the creator of this type of party. I mean that had I not been engaged with the app as party of the party fun, I might not have otherwise tried it. Instead, I played around with it the entire night and had a lot of fun doing it.

I think that this may the closest that you can get to brands without actually physically knocking on their door. And I like that.

Sharing my experience is the first thing that I did. It was interesting to be able to offer a brand advice. I have wanted to do that many times but just haven't. While I know that everyone is always saying don't give ideas for free, but the thing is if a few sentences I share may help a brand do something better, doesn't everyone win as long as I am happy? So I do it and like it.

I also like being able to ask for advice or feedback plus give advice or feedback while also being able to compare brands. I love that Yappem did the right thing to get me interested. Made me actually use it.

The coins are a bonus as well. For most things that I do on the Yappem, I get coins and then save coins to redeem for gift cards. I already got an Amazon gift card.

I don't actually use a ton of apps but I am kind of obsessed with fashion and shopping. I also love rewards programs. Yappem feels more intimate than Twitter. I feel like I can have actual conversations. It is fun. Like one of those games I cannot put down.

Did I mention that the tasks we were completing on Yappem would enter us into a giveaway for $12,000? For two people? I just knew that I was going to win. Alas, I didn't. But two other happy people did. Here is one of them:

The evening was fun and the perfect ending to my evening.  It really was an awesome party. These fabulous hosts do “awesome” right!

Sounds like an awesome party and great app! I am all about giving companies feedback on their products, not just negative. And yes, if it leads to something being improved I totally agree it should be free.
