Tips for Disconnecting with the Family

Disconnecting from technology and connecting with my family was one of my resolutions last year. I have stuck with it to the best of my ability. It’s important for me to be close with my family. At the end of the day, they are all that matters. Here are some tips I want to pass on to you about disconnecting with the family.

Same time every week

It’s no joke that I’m busy and my kids are extremely busy. However, I still make it a point to pick a time each week and we get together. Whether it’s movie and pizza or a game night, we are all in. My family knows that each week, they better be there. That is how we all decompress and enjoy each other.

I truly believe that one of the only ways to connect with the family is to disconnect from technology. Technology has its place every day, but when you’re with your family, Facebook and the Internet can wait. Again, your kids and family are who will be there are the end of the day.

Make the moments count

When it comes to disconnecting with the family and leaving technology behind, you need to make the moments count. You may not have a million minutes to spend together, which is why disconnecting is so important.

The Basket of Warmth is unlike anything you have ever seen before. It is something that keeps your freshly baked Sister Schubert’s® rolls warm throughout dinner. Get this though, it only works if your family’s phones are plugged into it. What a way to keep the family accountable in the disconnecting area. It not only keeps the rolls warm throughout dinner, but it also charges the phones, while keeping them out of the way during family dinnertime. Sister Schubert’s Dinner Yeast Rolls are the only rolls we serve around here. They are soft, delicious, and so homey!

  • 8 cups stuffing
  • 7 cups chopped turkey
  • 4 cups gravy
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Combine the noodles, stuffing, turkey, and gravy in a large bowl. Mix together.
  2. Press mixture into the 5 liter casserole dish.  Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the top.  Cover and bake for one hour.  Remove the cover and bake an additional 15 minutes.
  3. Note:If you need more gravy, just cut what you have with stock make with the Better Than Bullion Roasted Chicken Base.
  4. Cooking times assume all ingredients are cold.  The casserole will take less time if using warm ingredients.
