iBitz Wireless Activity Monitors are Perfect for Families

The iBitz wireless activity monitors offer a way to encourage the entire family to exercise and remain active. The monitor is an activity tracker that is designed for both children and adults. The Unity model is for adults and the PowerKey model is for children.

The Unity model is a small tracker equipped with a durable clip that is attached to the pocket, waistband, or shoe. Currently, the Unity is available in a variety of colors that include red, black, blue, pink, and purple. This device connects wirelessly to an iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. The tracking data is accessed using a free GeoPalz app.The GeoPalz app is used to track the user's overall activity, number of steps, distanced traveled, and calories burned. The app allows the user to enter weight and height information manually. It also keeps track of the user's BMI and change in weight. When using the app with an iPhone, the portrait mode displays data from the current day.

When the iPhone is switched to landscape mode, the user can view a graph of data that consists of hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly activity. This data includes a summary of user trends that include distanced walked, how many calories were burned, and the amount of steps taken over a specific period of time. A useful feature sends an email once a week that reports the activity from the previous week. The app also allows the user to measure the activity of other user profiles. After adding profiles for different family members, the user can monitor whether or not each member is achieving activity goals.

The PowerKey model looks identical to the Utility model; however, this version is designed for children. In order for children to use the app, the parent must create an account that is used to log into a personal PowerKey profile.

When children log into the PowerKey app, a GeoBotz virtual pet is displayed. This virtual pet is the same color of the PowerKey device. In order to keep the virtual pet happy, the child must give the pet energy earned from activity. Additionally, the pet receives drinks and food from the amount of activity produced by the child. There are also several free iOS games that grant playable game time when the child is active. When the child has used up the earned time, the game is blocked until more time credit is earned by being active. Currently, there are five games available. In most cases, the child will earn only a few minutes of game time for a full day of activity.

  • Measures steps, distance, weight, height, overall physical activity and BMI
  • Stores up to 30 days of activity
  • Syncs with select iOS Bluetooth 4.0-enabled devices
  • Water-resistant design
  • Warranty Terms – Parts & Labor: 1 year
  • Height: 1-1/2″
  • Width: 1″
  • Depth: 3/4″

These wireless activity trackers are used to promote exercise and keep the family active. There is not an annual fee to use the device like similar products. Both models use a button battery that can last up to 6 months and there is a spare battery packaged with the unit. The only major difference between the Unity and PowerKey models is the PowerKey models offers a few unique incentives to encourage children to exercise and stay active.

I love that they put those virtual pets to a good use. Love it! It’s a great way to bribe kids to work and to make it a habit. Very innovative.
